His mistress?Nikkos asked through thought.I figured it was the mind spinner.
Me, too,I answered back.Does Thorin control this mistress, or does she control him?
Let’s hope it’s not her with the control,Drae’s voice echoed in my skull. She would have to be incredibly powerful to control a mind spinner.
“What’s her name?” I demanded of the demon.
Blood spilled over his eyelids, streaking his grimy face. “She hasn’t revealed her name to me.”
“He’s lying,” Malvolia hissed.
“No.” I gritted my teeth. “He can’t lie when I use my siren voice.”
When she arched a brow, looking me over as if I was a mouthy child, I glared right back. Drae squeezed my shoulder, infusing more confidence into me as I turned up my chin. I would not let my aunt intimidate me, even if she could turn me to ash in a heartbeat.
“Does your mistress control the mind spinner, Thorin, too?” I asked. This was my chance to prove that Thorin, not my parents, was behind all the chaos and destruction of the past twenty-four years.
He shook his head, blood flinging from his face. “She’s lost control of Thorin.”
Ice solidified my veins. Was Thorin more powerful than this demon? “How?”
“He’s stronger than I.” He sniffled as drops of blood trickled from his nose. “He can fight the magic that boils his blood.”
“Ask why he’s here,” Malvolia demanded.
“Why were you sent here?” I asked the demon, annoyed that she’d interjected. This was my chance to expose Thorin and prove my parents’ innocence.
He flashed his teeth, snarling like a wounded animal as more blood streamed from his eyes. “To kill the white witch and bring chaos to Malvolia’s court.”
Malvolia let out a string of curses. “Ask him if my sister sent him?”
I refrained from rolling my eyes. She’s really obsessed, I projected to my mates. My mother had nothing to do with this.
Just go along with it,Drae warned.
I blew out a frustrated breath, already knowing the answer to my question. “Did Flora Avias send you?”
He gave me a funny look. “No.”
“Ask if your sister sent him,” Malvolia pressed.
I bit back a curse before summoning my siren. “Did Tarianya Avias send you?” These questions were a waste of time and judging by the strong flow of blood from his eyes, we only had a short time before his brain imploded or worse.
His eyes flashed with malice. “No.”
“Where did you come from?” My siren voice echoed through the forest like a gong, draining my strength with each word. Elements, I wanted to sink into Drae’s arms and sleep an eternity.
Blood flowed from both of his flared nostrils. “From hell.”
That wasn’t the answer I was looking for. “Where does your mistress live now?”
His eyes flashed with fear as more blood flowed. “The human realm.”
“Where in the human realm?”
Blood spilled out of his mouth. “Below the Periculian Mountains.”
Beneath the mountains?Drae’s voice echoed in my skull.Great Goddess. How?
