I worked hard to unclench my jaw. “Yes.”
“How spectacular.” She let out a girly squeal and clapped her hands. “Have you all fucked at once? If so, I wonder the logistics of such an endeavor. I’ve only ever had two fire mages at the same time. You would have to utilize all three holes, unless the brothers keep each other occupied.”
“Lady Franco.” Drae cleared his throat. “I think it’s best we change the topic.”
“Lady Franco?” She pouted while snapping open a silver-embroidered fan. “How formal we are. Next time you attempt a foursome, I would love to be a casual observer. Or perhaps I could join in.” She looked over the rim of her fan at me. “I could teach you everything your lords like, and I can teach your lords a few things I’m sure you’d like.”
I gritted my teeth while noticing the silhouettes on her fan, a very busty woman with beehive hair getting pounded from behind by a fire mage with an abnormally huge cock while swallowing another fire mage’s massive erection. “No, thank you.”
“Lady Veronica,” my aunt scolded, though the smile in her eyes didn’t match the sharpness in her tone, “my niece isn’t used to the ways of my court.”
“Give her time.” Veronica had the nerve to wink at me. “She’ll see how fun we can be.”
“Not likely,” I mumbled, annoyed when Veronica’s smile widened.
“Lord Monte and Lord Furori.” My aunt waved her goblet at two scowling fire mages sitting across from Veronica. Both were much shorter than my mates with beefy shoulders, stocky arms, amber eyes, and wide nostrils. I would’ve thought they were twins, except one had a cleft in his chin and the other didn’t. “You’re awfully quiet this evening.”
“Forgive me, My Queen.” Lord Furori gave her a curt nod before turning a stony gaze on me. “But her sister killed our cousin.”
I pulled back my shoulders, refusing to let him intimidate me. “Did your cousin deserve it?”
“Our cousin was serving our queen,” Lord Furori snarled like a cornered, wounded animal. “He was a loyal and blessed fire mage who could summon curse chambers and enough fire to set this entire court ablaze, and your sister turned him to nothing but a pile of ash.”
Fuck these assholes.Blaze’s voice echoed in my head.
They’ll be ash next if they don’t watch their mouths.Drae’s words ricocheted in my skull, punctured with rage.
No violence, please.I tensed, my hands curling into claws and fire racing through my veins. Though I should have expected this animosity in Malvolia’s court, the reproach still stung.
“Our cousin raised us after your parents murdered our parents,” Lord Monte added with a sneer. “He didn’t deserve such a dishonorable death.”
“I say an eye-for-an-eye.” Lord Furori jutted a thumb in his chest. “The white witch killed someone we loved.” His dark glare drifted to me. “We should kill someone she loves.”
Drae and Blaze jumped to their feet, kicking back their chairs, flames arcing off their fingers.
Drae’s top lip pulled back in a snarl, his heated gaze centering on them. “I dare you to try.”
The angry lords shared fanged smiles before jumping to their feet, their hands erupting into flames. And the rest of my aunt’s court broke into excited murmurs and laughter, which only fanned the flames of unrest.
I slowly stood, grasping Blaze’s forearm.Drae, Blaze,I projected to them,don’t cause a scene.
Blaze snarled at the other two mages, thunderclouds swirling in his eyes. They started it.
I caught my aunt’s scowling face out of the corner of my eye.Sit down,I projected to my mates.Malvolia is angry.
Drae shook his head, flames rising from his palms like volcanic geysers.Do you expect us to stand by while these fools dishonor you?
I expect you not to get smoked by my aunt.I nodded toward Malvolia who slowly stood, smoke rings curling from her fingers. The others in the room had gone eerily quiet, the glee in their eyes replaced by fear.
Drae visibly swallowed.She wouldn’t dare.
Malvolia slammed her goblet down on the table, her dark gaze shifting from the angry lords back to my mates. “No one is killing anyone today.” But Blaze and Drae appeared to be in a trance, their gazes locked with the other mages. “Put away your fire,” she said to them.
Do it,I warned my mates, fear solidifying my veins. If Malvolia attacked my mates, I’d have no choice but to use my siren voice on her.
Her smoke rings curled toward them like a slow-moving fog. “Do you dare disobey your queen?”
Drae, Blaze, please,I begged.
