Andie passed Katie a glass of wine, smiling. “I bought your favorite. I know you two have had a lot going on, but tonight you should just unwind and see where the night takes you,” she whispered and winked at us.

Katie smiled back and pretended to sip the wine before passing the glass to me, “Have you tried this one, babe?”

Our eyes met and a thousand words of understanding passed between us. We didn’t want to tell anyone about her pregnancy, so I was going to be drinking a lot of wine tonight. I took the glass and gave it a sip.

“That’s pretty good. Not as sweet as what I heard earlier,” I said, and watched her skin flush. I smirked and drank the rest of the wine, placing the emptied glass on a table. “Why are you so flushed, Kitkat?” I whispered against her ear as I pulled her into a hug.

Katie pushed me away, looking embarrassed; her eyes scanning the backyard to see if anyone else had heard my comments. I couldn’t help but push her buttons a little bit more tonight.

“I thought you liked the idea of being watched, maybe even caught,” I whispered in her ear, nibbling on her ear lobe. “Didn’t you want to try new things? Huh?”

“How about we start this with an ice breaker. Let’s play Never Have I Ever first,” Val suggested.

Amy was the first to jump up and agree, “Oh! I love that game! Let me get some post-its to play with,” she squealed while running back into the house and returning two minutes later.

“Ok, everyone,” Amy announced. “This game is called Never Have I Ever. Everyone gets two colored post-its. If you have never, hold up hot pink. If you have…. Green for name and shame,” she explained while sticking post-its to everyone as she went around the yard.

I found an empty chair in front of the bonfire and sat down, pulling Katie onto my lap. She leaned back against me and laughed as the games began. This was going to be interesting.

Chapter 44

Katie’s POV

I hadn’t laughed this hard since Thanksgiving. We were all couples sitting around playing games and just having fun. It was exactly what I needed to take my mind off of everything else.

It was Andie’s turn, “Never have I ever slept with two women at the same time.” I held up my hot pink post-it and looked around to see who held up their green.

Val and Lacy began to whisper back and forth before looking in my direction laughing when they held up a pink each. Suddenly, Jonas jumped up and yelled, “Kai! You lucky bastard, you have to tell!”

I whipped my head to look behind me at Kai. His face was crimson red, as he held up the only green post-it. “It’s not what you think,” he whispered, kissing my shoulder.

Clearing his throat, he stared ahead at Lacy and Val. “I slept with two women six years ago. They were drunk and wandered into my room,” he told the group.

Jonas and Bradley whistled and encouraged him to tell all of the details. Kai cleared his throat, and I realized that he was making a big deal of this and Lacy and Val were turning redder and redder.

“Well, these two hot chicks, broke into my room, crawled into my bed and proceeded to-” Kai stopped when Lacy cut him off.

“Proceeded to pass out! Don’t you dare make shit up!” Lacy shouted.

Kai pretended to be offended. “I do believe this is my story to tell, Lacy. You held up PINK!” he snorted at her and began again.

“Now, where was I?” He asked out loud.

Bradley urged him on, “Two hot chicks, your bed, proceeded to…”

Kai’s face lit up with that mischievous smile I loved so much. “Ah, yes. They then proceeded to squirm around until they were under my blankets with me. They put their hands all over my body…”

He made this long dramatic pause to build up the suspense, but I elbowed him. “Let me up!” I whined. “I have to pee!!”

“Sorry, right,” he whispered, letting me run back into the house. “Potty break, have to wait,” he sighed.

Alex leaned back and groaned, “You two planned this out didn’t you?!?”

I ran into the first floor bath and got done as quickly as I could. I made sure to dry my hands thoroughly after I washed them so I wouldn’t get too chilled sitting outside.

I returned to my spot on Kai’s lap and he continued, “They got under my blankets, put hands all under my body, and then they told me their heat went out and they just needed to warm up.” He made the last part so suggestive that Val and Lacy looked ready to burst.

“Oh for fuck’s sake, Kai. Stop milking this shit out,” Val interrupted him. “It was me and Lacy. We had come back from shoveling the cars out of the snow. We were frozen and exhausted, so we crawled into Kai’s bed, put our popsicle hands under his body and went to sleep for three hours. He was asleep, and so were we.”
