“The first time I knew she was the one, was Prom weekend. I always loved you, Kat, but that’s when I knew it could only be you,” I said.

“Do you remember when we held our little girl for the first time?” Katie asked me.

Everyone stopped talking.

“You can’t skip ahead to shit that happens this summer! You’ll confuse everyone!” I whined, doing my best to look annoyed.

“OH MY GOD! YOU’RE PREGNANT?!?!” Amy screamed and everyone started shouting congratulations, jumping and squealing when Katie turned beet red.

“Congratulations!!” Andie said, pulling us both into a hug. “I’m so angry that you didn’t tell me, but I am so fucking excited at the same time!!”

“How far along are you? Summer is just around the corner,” Alex’s wife Jane asked.

Katie laughed and we both started pulling up our super baggy sweaters. We had matching shirts made to show everyone that said, ‘19 weeks and counting,’ but Katie had an obvious baby bump to show off as well. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her the whole day. She was glowing. Her eyes sparkled every time she looked at me, and she couldn’t stop laughing and smiling.

We ended up ordering a second round of pizzas around eight o’clock, but the majority of people had left by that point. My parents couldn’t be more thrilled, and Katie’s parents pretended to be shocked so that no hard feelings developed because one set knew before the other.

“So when are you guys tying the knot?” My brother asked, while we sat around the bonfire.

I looked at Katie and she giggled. “Well, we thought we would make that another first. We want to have a proper wedding, and I was hoping you’d be my best man, Reggie.”

For a second I thought my brother would cry, but he pulled it together. “It’d be a freaking honor. I cannot wait to roast your ass when I give my toast-”

“On second thought, Bradley are you available?” I cut him off.

“You think I have less shit on you, Kai? I have a fucking encyclopedia britannica’s worth of shit I have been saving for a wedding toast!” Bradley cackled.

“Fuck… Alex? Jonas?” I called out before Katie dropped into my lap and put her hand over my mouth.

“Reggie, you can say whatever you want as long as it isn’t mean. But I will let you know that Andie is going to be my matron of honor… So this is going to be a bet to see who can give the best speech,” Katie informed my brother.

“Oh yeah? What’s in it for the winner?” He asked.

“Well I was thinking of gifting some cake, but I’ll make a custom piece for the winner and the second place will get a consolation custom piece for Christmas,” Katie announced, sticking her belly out like she was bragging.

Andie and Reggie jumped up at the same time, “DEAL!”

“When is this wedding happening?” My mom asked. She hadn’t been too happy that I eloped last time, so this was news to her.

“We’re thinking of October. Alex is going to let us have it at The Barn,” Katie grinned ear to ear, waving at Alex.

“Oh that’s so nice!” Our moms said in unison.

“Isn’t that where they knocked boots the first time?” Jonas asked, not so quietly.

“OH MY GOD, ANDIE! ARE THERE NO SECRETS?” Katie squealed, hiding her face in my chest.

I couldn’t stop laughing as I held Katie in my arms. This was the first girl I ever liked. The first woman I fell in love with. The first woman I had ever given my whole heart to, without any reservations.

“To all of our firsts,” I toasted, holding up my glass of sparkling cider.

“To the firsts,” everyone cheered back.

“I love you, Kai,” Katie whispered against my neck.

“I loved you first, Kitkat,” I whispered back and kissed the top of her head.
