His smile appeared slowly, tenderly, enhancing the glacier intensity of his eyes that made a shiver trickle down my spine. My thighs ached as my slit twitched. It was starting to get painful to be this turned on.
One look had me shook.
“Noted,” he rasped. “Should we delay doing that again?”
“I promised Kiki…”
His smile shrank, and his eyes iced over, guarded once more. “Ah, I see.”
“I’m sorry, Eric. I’m not sure how to proceed. I’ve never really…”
“Liked an older man?”
I shook my head. “No, it’s not that. I’ve just never been conflicted. I’ve never had anything romantic last for longer than a few months.”
His brow dipped, creased with concern. “Really?”
“Yeah, I know. It sounds stupid, right? I just didn’t get around to dating much in my early twenties. Magic and the family business came first. Always.” I stared at my knees. “I’m twenty-five, and I haven’t done much. Isn’t that silly?”
“No, it’s not silly. I get it. I put the Marines first for a while until I retired.”
I combed my fingers through my hair, my hands getting steadier the longer I spoke to him. He had a calming effect. Regardless of how much uncertainty existed, I knew for sure I could lean on him emotionally in this conversation. His rational mind and reception were invigorating.
So unlike the young men I had met in the past.
I bowed my head. “I’m glad you understand.”
“Can I do anything?”
“About what?”
He shrugged. “Just…anything. Can I do anything for you?”
I grinned. “You can help me with the next phase of our plan.”
He nodded. “What does that entail?”
“That entails finding out where Ander is hiding.”
“They’re vampires. They like clubs.”
I bowed my head. “I know a place we can check—it’s called Drip. They’re one of the most popular blood bars in the South. It’ll be easy to get in if I can guard our scents.”
“Yeah?” He perked up. “Got anything nice to wear for the both of us?”
“I prepared for this moment.”
With a smirk, I slid from the bed and walked across the room to my duffel bag. I pulled a royal purple bag from the side pocket and held it up proudly.
He scratched under his chin. “We’re wearing…that?”
“No, it’s an infinity bag.”
“You mean you have a wardrobe in there?” He laughed. “There’s no way you can actually fit much in there.”
“Baby, I can fit just about anything in here.” I strutted toward him and paused a few feet away with a wink. “No matter the size.”
He tugged at the collar of his shirt, visibly shuddering with the next breath he took. “Alright, GG. Don’t kill me with the anticipation. Show me what you got.”
