"Yeah, about that.” I laughed as she arched a perfect brow in my direction. "I was going to ask if you wanted to take it a little slower, you know?"

Truthfully, I was now almost certain I didn't want to go home with Heather.

"You don't want to come home with me?" Heather asked incredulously, tilting her head as she did.

"It's more a case of—I don't know you, sweetheart. I'm not into fucking then talking." I shrugged, gazing at her while inwardly kicking myself.

Am I fucking tripping?

I don't think I'd ever seen anyone as hot as Heather in real life.

Or have I?

Now is not the time to think about my best friend.

"Wow, you're serious," Heather gasped before she shrugged. "So nice guys can be hot. Who knew."

Nice guys? Yeah. That’s me.

If this were Rafe, the girl would be pregnant by now.

I smiled at the thought of what Rafe's reaction would be to me turning down this beauty.

It would confirm my homosexuality for sure in his eyes.

"I'm not saying no, I'm just saying—" I began, as she pressed her finger to my lips, replacing them with hers.

Just as we were kissing again, we were interrupted by an annoyed voice.

"Heather? Do you need a ride home?"

We broke apart, and Heather stepped away from me, sending me a warm smile.

"Sam, Verity, this is Chase. Chase, meet Sam and Verity."

I nodded briefly at Sam, who was glaring at me like I'd stolen his car and returned it covered in scratches.

My eyes moved to the girl beside him, who just looked irritated with the whole affair. She rolled her eyes at Sam's stubborn silence before giving me a brief wave.

"Hi, new boy. Is he joining us, Heather or—"

"No, he isn't," Heather said with a pout. “Unless I can convince you?" She looked up at me, her green eyes focusing on my lips.

Jeez, Fallon.

Get laid.

"Sorry," I whispered, lifting her hand to my lips as she smiled faintly.

Sam was frowning with confusion, and I noticed him and Verity exchange a bewildered look.

"Call me, Chase," Heather instructed, walking away from me.

Sam glared at me one last time before he walked away beside Heather.

Verity seemed to be still staring at me with a stunned expression before she smiled to herself.

"Yeah, call her, Chase," Verity mimicked, and I allowed myself a smile. "Or not, depending on how much respect you have."
