"Sorry?" Rafe turned his head to Leigh, who was watching Heather leave through the frosted glass.

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"What's it to you?" Rafe scoffed, folding his arms across his chest.

Leigh chuckled to himself before shrugging.

"Nothing. Just kudos, man. What a woman."

Rafe's eyes glittered with annoyance, and he refused to break eye contact with Leigh for what felt like an eternity.

Knowing that Leigh was my girlfriend's twin and also a trained killer, I stepped in.

"Breakfast?"

Leigh was becoming a problem.

Jael had texted me to make sure I wasn't going to bail tonight, and I had no intention of doing so.

Leigh had driven me to the store to pick up my favorite lipstick, and I took the opportunity to needle him about his 'kid' comment.

"It's a shame you're so into women, Leigh. Jael is beautiful. All dark hair, boobs, and ass. Depends what you're into, of course."

Leigh stared past me, checking around us like I'd not uttered a word.

I tapped him on the shoulder when he shrugged his broad shoulders.

"Sounds good."

I hadn't expected that.

Amusement curled at Leigh’s lips, and he let out a soft chuckle.

"Why the surprise, doll?"

"No surprise. You're a man, after all."

"That's right, Raven."

His tone was dark, the playful edge to his voice now a distant memory. His eyes locked on something out of the store window, and I followed his gaze to see two guys sitting on the hood of a beat-up truck. They were staring into the store and appeared to be looking directly at us.

I frowned before turning back to Leigh. His jaw clenched, and his hand reached out to wrap around my upper arm gently.

"We're leaving," Leigh commanded.

"The hell we are, I need to buy this—" I retorted when Leigh tossed the lipstick back onto the shelf.

"I'm not asking. Move."

"Jeez, it's just two guys—"

My words died in the air when Leigh lifted me over his shoulder in one swift movement, moving towards the emergency exit doors.

"Put me the fuck down!" I screamed as he slapped my ass hard.
