Page 107 of Five Days to Be Mine

Moving to the kitchen, careful not to step on the paper red hearts that I have strewn from the doorway to the bedroom, I set out two wine glasses, next to the uncorked bottle and check my reflection in the toaster

I know, big ass mirror in the bedroom, but I'm here and I feel as nervous as I did when I asked the older sister of the next-door neighbour out when I was fifteen.

That’s only memorable because the door was slammed in my face and it was my first rejection.

I glance at my watch and pick up my phone

I know today has been busy for Mara, as it was just her and Jenny in the studio getting the pieces done and ready to be delivered tomorrow.

Mara's alarm had gone off earlier than usual.

I made her coffee while she showered and only managed a quick kiss before she dashed out the door. I'm starting to wonder if she got caught up or if the car of hers had something fail when I hear the soft beep of the door.

“You look beautiful.” I kiss her cheek and take her bags.

Mara laughs, shakes her head and gestures to herself.

“I feel like I've been run over by a moose. There is nothing beautiful about this.” She motions to her yoga pants and a torn oversized T-shirt.

“There is plenty beautiful. There’s no moose in sight.” I lean in, fisting her hair and kissing her, burning with need.

“I missed you.”

“I missed you, too, Sir Evan.”

She knows just what to say to make my dick hard, and she wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me down for another kiss.

“I’m all set up for you. Unless you want to skip the play tonight and watch a movie instead?” I run my knuckles along her jaw.

She looks down, noticing the floor.

“Hearts!” Mara grins and clutches my hand. “You did that for me? Thank you.”

“I know you’re busy tomorrow during the day and you know tomorrow night is impossible for me to have free time, so I thought I'd show you some Valentine’s Day tonight.”

“Aww! Sir Evan!”

Her smile makes her eyes sparkle like blue diamonds.

My heart can’t stop jumping around my chest.

Still holding hands, I led her into the kitchen and pull out a chair for her.

“I’m a little tired, but there’s no way I want to skip play. I’m dying to find out what you have planned.”

“All in good time.” I pour the wine and clink her glass to mine.

“Cheers to you, Mara.”

“Cheers to us,” she counters and stifles a yawn.

I laugh, running my hand through her hair. “I don’t care what we do as long as you’re with me.”

“No, I'm okay. I feel better being home. Let me go freshen-up.”

“Good. The scene starts as soon as you are out of the bathroom. Forget the clothes.”

I am grinning so wide my face hurts.
