Jane shook her head. “No. I just wondered.”
Why would Logan have called? He was long gone by now and had probably forgotten all about his little rescue.
The nurse headed to the door, carrying the tray with the empty plates.
“Dr. Lewis will come by to check on you tomorrow. He’s stuck with back-to-back emergencies today and sends his apologies, but he wanted you to know that the best thing you can do right now, is to try to take it easy. Don’t do anything strenuous and don’t beat yourself up if you find there are lots of things you don’t remember. In most cases, the memory comes back a little at a time. Give yourself time to heal up and recover from your ordeal.”
Jane shot her a grateful smile. “I’ll try. I have already learned one thing about myself today, though.”
The Nurse beamed at her, flashing pearly white teeth. “That’s fantastic! What is it?”
“I don’t much like gossip mags,” Jane replied.
“You and me both,” the nurse said, smiling. “My name’s Karen, by the way. If you need me, just push that button. Now, before I take these back to the cafeteria… are you sure you don’t want anything else? I’m heading there, anyway?”
Jane didn’t want to impose, but the thought of more food was welcoming. She had only made a dent in her hunger.
Catching the expression on her face, Karen grinned.
“I’ll bring you back a few things so you can snack on them through the night.”
Winking, Karen left.
Settling back into the bed, Jane tried the television once more until she landed on a hospital drama.
Maybe it was all the carbs, or the hot shower, but within moments of watching, her eyelids became so heavy that she could barely keep them open.
Her last thought as she fell asleep was that she had seen the episode of Grey’s Anatomy before.
