My eyes widened, and my heart leaped into my throat. No. No. This couldn’t be happening. I gripped the glass in my hand so tightly that it dug into my skin. I eased off a bit so I didn’t hurt myself.

The creeper grabbed my hair and wrenched my head back, so I had no choice but to get up. He shoved me back to where Lincoln and Mikey were. Lincoln was still on the ground, writhing in pain.

Mikey motioned to a spot on the wall. “Why don’t you have a seat? This should be quite the show.”

I curled my lip and growled. The shard dug into my hand again, and I had to force myself to release it enough so the jerks wouldn’t see fresh blood and then peer closer at my weapon.

Mikey kicked Lincoln in the side, making him wheeze. He lifted a brow. “Sit.”

I put my back against the wall and slowly slid down until my bottom hit the floor. I brought my knees to my chest and made sure my weapon was out of sight.

Mikey nudged Lincoln a few more times before his attention snapped back to me. “I didn’t think anybody would come back for him. I’m not sure I understand why you did.” He scrunched his nose up and shook his head. “Kind of glad you did, Sloane. I’m going to enjoy you.”

I hugged myself and tried not to let his words bother me. It didn’t help. My imagination ran rampant at what he meant by that. None of it was good.

The enforcer, who had manhandled me a moment ago, crossed his arms over his chest and stared at me. “What are we going to do with them?”

Mikey grinned like he was all too pleased with himself. “I’ve already called my father. He’s on his way here.”

Mikey stooped to a crouch and stared at me. “A little birdie told me that your daddy and some of his men, maybe even your brothers, are on their way here to come collect you. We’re going to stick around and wait for them. Two birds, one stone.”

Heat scorched my cheeks, and my heart pounded in my chest. We’d been betrayed. By whom? There weren’t that many people who knew what Lincoln and I were doing.

Mikey wasn’t lying about this. There was no other way for him to know to come here and that my dad was coming personally to get me.

Mikey reached out and trailed a calloused finger down my cheek. My stomach rolled, and I flinched away from him.

He grabbed my chin between his fingers and forced me to look at him. “I can see those little wheels spinning in your head. You wouldn’t be wrong if you think someone sold you out.”

I jerked my face out of his grasp, causing his snarled nails to scratch my chin. “Who?”

Mikey laughed and waggled his finger in front of my face. “All will be revealed soon enough.”

I hated that I didn’t know who had betrayed us. My dad and brothers were coming. They were going to walk right into a trap, and I couldn’t stop them. Lincoln and I needed to figure a way out of this.

Sweat beaded Lincoln’s brow, and he didn’t look like he was going to be able to do much of anything. I could see where they’d injected him. He had angry red blotches all up his arm from where the poison had entered. Welts ran up to his neck. He was shaking or shivering; I wasn’t sure which.

Regardless, he wasn’t going to be able to help me. Whatever I did, I was on my own.

And I needed a plan fast.

Twenty-Two

Sloane

Mikey’s phone rang, making me jump. I pulled my legs closer to my chest, squeezing them to my body to make myself smaller.

Mikey dug his phone out of his pocket and answered it. He paced in front of Lincoln and me as he spoke.

Dread washed over me as I realized it was probably Alpha Dane on the other end. The proud look on Mikey’s face became more defined the longer he was on the phone, and he puffed out his chest as he marched back and forth in front of us.

He hung up after a few minutes and shoved the phone back into his pocket. Then he rubbed his hands together. “Good news. My dad and Sawyer will be here in about thirty minutes.”

Tears blurred my vision, and I bit the inside of my cheek to keep from crying. Thirty minutes would probably be about the same time as when my dad and brothers got here. I closed my eyes, and a few tears fell down my cheeks. I sniffled and laid my head in my arms. I didn’t want that bastard to see me crying.

Lincoln’s voice filled my head. Sloane, we have to fight back, and we have to fight back now.

How?
