We both laugh as I unlock and open the door with the hand under her legs. “Welcome home, wife.”

I don’t know what has changed within her, but I like this new person. Maybe this won’t be as hard as I thought it to be. Every plan of mine is now going askew.

Chapter 23

Zolina

If Atlis's plan is to dazzle me and keep me on my toes, then it is working. Everything he shows me is something new, something different than I had originally expected. I assumed he lived with his father or lived in a tiny studio or something. I was very wrong. This is our home, and it is exquisite.

“Atlis…” My breath is taken away, held by the beauty of the room. Floor-to-ceiling windows, chandeliers, a decent view of Noir Sands beaches, and a black and white furnished living room. He sets me down on my feet as I take everything in.

The walls are painted porcelain white, and all the furniture is midnight black. The accent pieces spread throughout the room are grey and all have a celestial theme to them. In the middle of the living room are the couches. One is a Chesterfield sectional with five regular seats and two built-in chaise lounges. Opposite of that is a Camelback loveseat, matching of course. The windows have giant black curtains that span the entire wall, closing out the world beyond and allowing us to have some secrets to ourselves.

I find my footing, moving on to the rest of the house. Off to the right of the living room is a conversion pit turned into a bar. A giant mirror hangs on the wall behind it, and every alcohol one could imagine sits on the counter below.

“This is phenomenal,” I whisper into the room.

“So, you like it?” Atlis asks.

“Like it? I fucking love it, Atlis. This is a dream.” I move closer to him.

He chuckles in reply. “Come on, wife. There is more to see.” He reaches for my hand, and we take off to view the rest of the house.

We toured the kitchen and two of the bedrooms, passed a locked door that I decided to investigate later, and had a brief look into our room.

“Your surprise awaits.” Atlis gestures for me to take the stairs.

I pause in the middle of the glass staircase. We have roof access just outside the bedroom, down the hall from everything else. This is just getting better and better. I start climbing the stairs, my hand on the glass panel railing.

“Are you coming with me?” I ask, turning around to watch him walk the other way.

“No, go enjoy. I’ll be in the living room waiting for your return.” He winks and vanishes beyond my view.

I finish walking up the steps and push my way out of the door. I am greeted with the stunning view I’d previously seen from the living room, green plants in every direction, and a lattice roof pergola. Hanging in between each slat are little drops of fairy lights that I know will sparkle at dusk.

“Zo!”

I turn around and come face to face with my best friend. “JD!” I squeal. We hug each other like we haven’t seen each other in months, not just a few days. “I missed you so much!”

“You have to tell me everything. Were you scared? What happened? Did he fuck you senseless? Did he worship your body? Tell me everything! Come on, sit down.”

I laugh and sit down next to JD on the outside settee. “Calm down. I’ll explain everything, but first, how did you get here? How did you and Atlis set this up? I didn’t think you knew him very well?”

“There is so much that the three of us need to catch up on, but you first. What is he like in bed?”

I explained everything to her–the trip up, me trying to run away, how he feasted between my legs, the shower. I don’t leave anything out.

“He seems nicer than what I originally figured,” she says.

“Don’t get me wrong, he can be an asshat, but he’s also super endearing. I think… oh, nevermind.” I wave off the thought.

“You’re in love?” Her eyes are comically wide, silently begging for me to finish my thoughts.

“I think? Maybe? I mean, he isn’t as bad as I first thought. I just needed to give him a chance.”

“Awe! My baby girl is finally figuring shit out! I knew you didn’t love Kias, but I just couldn’t tell you that I thought he was the wrong brother. I’m glad you opened your eyes. Even if it was because of force.”

We both start laughing and spend a few hours catching up. So much can happen in a few days.
