“Call the police!” Someone yelled, and as Carlisle jumped up, he lunged for Logan, knocking them both to the floor.

Logan was amazingly agile, though, and he managed to stand with ease, leaning down to wrap his hands around Carlisle’s throat.

“Listen,cunt,” he hissed, spit flying from his mouth. “Don’t ever speak tomygirl again.Ever. If you do, I’ll kill you.”

“You’re always going to be second best to me.” Carlisle wheezed.

Crunch.

Logan punched him again, this time knocking him unconscious. His head rolled to the side, blood spurting from his nose.

“Logan!” I cried out as he stood, wiping his hands on his jeans.

He looked up at me, and I saw the love in his eyes. The adoration, the apparent need to protect me above anything else.

“Let’s go,” he muttered, holding his hand out to me.

I took it, glancing back at Carlisle with panic.

What if he’s killed him?!

Ellie whistled, smirking at Carlisle’s friends as we walked past them. Their stunned expressions made them look frozen in time, like statues. Suddenly one moved towards Carlisle, glaring at me as he did.

Logan stopped suddenly, and I walked into him, gasping when I saw the community police officer at the entrance to the cafe.

“You,” the officer commanded, his finger raised at Logan. “Stay right where you are.”

“You don’t have the power to arrest me.” Logan shrugged, moving to walk past him.

“No, but they do.”

The community police officer grinned sardonically when a police car pulled up, and two uniformed officers stepped out, grim expressions on their faces.

“Fuck’s sake,” Logan sighed, crossing his arms as he turned to me. “Don’t worry. Okay? I’ll be alright. I love you.”

Ellie gripped my arm, tugging me towards her as the police officers surveyed the scene, their eyes resting on Logan.

“Had a bit of a scrap, did we?” One of the officers said almost cheerfully, nodding at Carlisle, who was slowly coming to the floor. “Do you need medical attention, son?”

“I can’t see,” Carlisle whined as the officer narrowed his eyes at Logan.

“Did he do this?” The police officer asked the community officer, nodding at Logan.

“Yes, that’s why I called you down. I saw it all happen. First, this one smacked him; then, when he was down, he punched him again.”

Logan was tense now, his fists clenching and loosening at his sides repeatedly.

“Righty-O,” The police officer declared, reaching out for Logan. “You are under arrest on suspicion of actual bodily harm. You do not have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you will later rely on in court. Anything you say may be given in evidence.”

“Un-fucking-believable,” Logan muttered as the officer turned him around to place handcuffs on his wrists. His grey eyes met mine just as hot tears slid down my cheeks.

“I’ll call Mum,” Ellie mumbled beside me, pushing her hair behind her ear. “I’ve got Jess, don’t worry.”

Logan locked eyes with me until he was dragged away, and I watched with disbelief as my boyfriend was carted off to a police car, his head pushed down as he was shoved in the rear seat.

“Oh my God,” I whispered as Ellie wrapped her arms around me, guiding me towards the exit.

“Let’s go.”
