Before he could say more, Sarah piped up.

“I’m hungry now. I think we need to make the pizzas now before we run out of flour!” she chirped with a smile as she wiped some of the flour from her face.

“You look like a little ghost, peanut.” Wes chuckled, taking her in his arms.

“So do you, Papa.” Sarah giggled, running her finger over his cheek.

“That’s a cute look for you,” Mel chimed in. “The heart looks perfect on his cheek, bug.”

“I know. It’s like a special tattoo that will always be there.” Sarah took Wes’ face in her hands and gave him a quick kiss before jumping down and helping Mel.

“Why don’t you run up and get ready for your bath?” Mel mentioned to Sarah.

“Okay! Will you come help me, Melly?”

“Of course I will. Let me clean up a little down here and I’ll be right up. Don’t get in without me!”

“Okie dokie!” Sarah bounced out of her chair and barreled up the stairs leaving a small trail of flour behind her. Wes chuckled to himself. Melody and Sarah were silly when they got together and he loved that they had that connection.

Mel moved to the kitchen to start straightening up but Wes had other plans in mind.

Wes pulled her into his arms and backed them into the wall.

She looked up at him with questions in her eyes. He pressed his hard body into hers, cupping her face and crashing his lips to hers.

Melody fisted her hands in his shirt. She hesitated at first then melted into him, opening her mouth and submitting to him.

Their kiss turned ravenous as Melody wrapped her arms around his neck and jumped into his arms. He held her tightly against him as he pulled back to look into her eyes.

Her breathing was rapid and it took everything in him not to continue kissing her. “I have a confession.”

Melody pressed her lips together and he held eye contact to convey what his words couldn’t.

“I’m sorry about this morning, buttercup. I didn’t handle things very well.”

Melody turned her face away from him, her cheeks flaming.

“Look at me, Melody,” he commanded. She slowly brought her eyes back to his but tears flowed down her cheeks.

With her in his arms, he turned and placed her on the counter, pushing his body between her legs, her skirt inched up her thighs. His heart ached at the pain he saw in her eyes. She was hurt from this morning’s actions. He knew without her speaking it.

Wes placed his hands on her cheeks, his thumbs smoothing away the tears.

“Look, I fucked up this morning. I didn’t know Sarah was coming home early and I panicked.” His eyes pleaded for her to understand. “She’s never met anyone.”

“I know. I shouldn’t have been here.” She cast her eyes down to her lap. “I should have known this was a temporary thing.”

“No, buttercup, you don't understand." He leaned in, his hands running over her face and neck.

“This is not fucking temporary. Do you hear me? You’re mine.”

Melody gasped as she looked up into his eyes.

He threaded his fingers in her hair, trapping her tight. His lips brushed against hers with his words. “Out there, none of that matters. Nothing."

He tugs her hair. “Nothing but you."

He placed a soft kiss against her mouth.
