He kissed me quickly and rubbed my back before pulling away. “I’ll see you later, Feisty.”
“Later, August.”
Watching him jog to the rig with a coy smile flitting across his gorgeous mouth made me pause to admire him in action. I giggled, hustling to my car to get ready for our date. August had plans for me and it would be nice to spend some alone time with him.
CHAPTER 12
August
I don’t know why I was suddenly nervous. Karsyn and I had a great connection, and very similar tastes. We met each other intellectually, as well as for casual conversation but still I had another round of nerves hitting me as I waited for her to show up at our agreed-upon time.
Stop comparing yourself to Logan!
That’s what the issue was. I strived to be the casually confident dominant Logan was. Though, I knew it wasn’t just surface level.
He’d hinted to Karsyn and I that managing two relationships was very different than having only one partner. Our relationship, mine and Logan’s was new, and our throuple even more recent. Maybe all of this was a bad idea.
I could practically hear Logan growling in my ear. Damn it. He was right. I should have talked to him way before our interactions at the club. He liked me. Somehow the man whom I’d admired from afar for so long felt the same way I did. Maybe even more so.
Studying my kitchen, I took a moment to be thankful for what I had. Being a medic in New York City nearly burnt me out completely. The challenges in Falcon Creek didn’t compare to the constant chaos of the city. I had my friends, both old and new, and Dalton was handling the issues at work. I was respected and admired. Things I’d never felt before. No, things I hadn’t allowed myself to feel. It was like Logan’s acceptance of me unlocked a whole bunch of feelings. That was part of it. I thought my confidence shined but his gentle reassurances strengthened it. Two knocks sounded on my door, and I hurried to answer it. Karsyn smiled as I leaned against the doorjamb. She had on the same flared skirt from earlier, but she’d changed into a low-cut shirt that showcased her gorgeous breasts. Her hair had been pulled into a high ponytail and ebony curls cascaded over her shoulder. She looked good enough to eat.
“Hey.” She held out a bottle of wine.
“Hi, sweetheart.” I stepped back to allow her to enter. “You look stunning.”
“Thank you. It was nice to see you at the hospital.”
“Nice?”
She giggled, a high-pitched melodic sound. “I wasn’t going to stroke your ego, Sir.”
“I could use a little stroking every now and then.”
“I bet you could,” Karsyn teased gently.
“Dinner is ready but if you have other ideas, I’m game.” I winked and set the wine into an ice bucket. “Would you like to take a detour to my room instead?”
“As much as I love that idea, I am really hungry, Sir.”
“Food, then other things.” I kissed her lips and her mouth parted, allowing me to deepen it. Soon we were making out, her body pressed against mine as we tasted each other. I ran my hand through her long, dark curls.
“Uh, you’re distracting me, August.”
“I love the way you taste, babygirl. I would much rather carry you to the bedroom and have my way with you.”
“If I wasn’t so hungry, I’d be on my knees already.”
“Fine, fine.” I nipped her neck. “Let’s eat.”
“Food!”
“Yes, babygirl. Food.” I swatted her ass, and she went to the table, sitting down while keeping her eyes on me. I plated our meal and then poured us a glass of wine each. “Your choice pairs perfectly with dinner. We couldn’t have planned it better.”
“I was thinking that when I smelled the food. We must have been on the same wavelength.”
“So, why are you so hungry tonight?”
Karsyn blinked a few times, then focused on taking several bites. After a minute she finally spoke up. “This is delicious.”
