Page 24 of Rescued By The Wolf

I step into the bedroom and my wolf snarls as we see Roger standing in the closet with our mate. He’s got his hand wrapped around her arm and is trying to drag her out, but he freezes when he sees me standing there.

As soon as I see that creep standing so close to my mate, I snap. I promised my mate that I would keep her safe and I’m about to do just that.

I race forward and grab him. He dropped his hold on Sophie when he saw me headed their way, and he turns to face me fully.

“You,” he snarls, but I don’t waste time with talking.

I swing, my fist connecting with her stepdad’s jaw. His head snaps to the side, and blood spurts out of his mouth, but I don’t pause. I grab his arm and bend it behind his back, marching him down the stairs.

Alec is about to head up them, but he stops when he sees me.

“I can take it from here,” he tells me, but I shake my head and keep pushing Roger out of my house and down the path he came from.

“I need to take care of him,” I tell Alec, and he nods, following me outside.

I shove Roger and he goes sprawling in the snow, sputtering as he climbs to his feet and turns to face me.

“You little asshole,” he snarls, and I grin.

“Me? I’m not the one stalking my stepdaughter. I’m not the one trying to sleep with her. You’re a fucking creep,” I spit at him.

He lunges at me, but I’m ready for him. Hitting him this time actually feels good. I want to beat this man to a pulp for what he did to my Sophie, for all of the crap that he put her through.

He deserves it.

I tackle him to the ground and punch his face until he’s a bloody pulp. He blubbers, sucking in a deep breath.

“Stop! Flint, stop!” Sophie begs, and I freeze, turning to see her running our way.

“Stay there,” I tell her, and she stops in her tracks.

“Don’t kill him. I just want him to leave. Just make him leave and promise never to come back,” she begs, and I nod.

“You heard her,” I tell Roger as I grab the collar of his jacket and push to my feet.

I take a deep breath and start to drag him further down the path, away from my mate and our place.

Roger stumbles along, trying to catch his breath and he finally finds his feet. I swing him around in front of me and push him.

“You heard my girl. You get to leave this time, but if you ever come back here, if I ever see your face again, I will kill you. I promise,” I hiss at him.

He looks terrified as he stares at me, and I flash my teeth at him.

Kill him, my wolf snarls, but I shake my head.

We promised our mate that we wouldn’t.

He paws at the ground, glaring at Roger, and I do the same.

“Leave. Now. Before I change my mind.”

He turns, tripping and staggering as fast as he can down the trail until he’s out of sight. I follow after him, watching to make sure he makes it back to the group. He stops briefly, grabbing some snow and wiping off his face. He holds some more snow to it, probably trying to help with the swelling before he takes off again.

When he makes it to the group, I turn and head home. I need to get back to my mate and make sure that she’s okay and that she knows I will always keep her safe.

Let me run back. It will be faster, my wolf argues, and I nod.

I strip, leaving my clothes in a box behind a big tree that’s there for just this purpose. As soon as I’m naked, I shift and let my wolf out. He hits the ground on all fours and takes off.
