“What if you regret it? What if they come back and cause more drama and issues?”
“It won’t matter. Nothing will ever stop me from loving you. Nothing, Sophie.”
“You sound so sure.”
“Because I am,” he insists. “You’re my fated mate, and I will always love you. Now tell me that you love me too.”
“I love you,” I tell him honestly. “I have since the first night we met.”
“I have too,” he says, brushing his nose against mine.
I lean forward, closing the gap between us and pressing my lips against his. He kisses me back eagerly, and soon, we’re making out on the couch.
“I need you,” I whimper against his mouth, and he nods.
“Let’s get you upstairs.”
“Join me in the shower?” I ask, and he nods.
He stands, lifting me in his arms and I smile, wrapping my arms around his neck as he carries me upstairs.
I had been so afraid, but as soon as Flint came home, I knew that I was going to be okay. He’ll never let anything bad happen to me.
He carries me into our bathroom and sets me on my feet before he moves to turn the shower on. I watch him adjust the temperature, and then he turns back to me.
“Strip, mate,” he orders, and I smile.
I love when he takes control and bosses me around. I love having him in charge.
I hurry to pull my clothes off, and then he grabs my hand and pulls me under the spray of water.
“Let me take care of you,” he murmurs a second before his lips land on mine, and I smile, letting him do just that.

Five Years Later…
“Are we late?” Sophie asks as she comes down the stairs, our daughter resting on her hip.
“No, we’ll be fine,” I assure her.
We’re meeting everyone at the Mountain Rescue Headquarters for a potluck dinner. Sophie and I made a seven-layer dip and a chocolate silk pie for dessert. I’ve already loaded those in the car, and I’m just waiting for my wife and kids.
Sophie and I got married a week after we met in a small courthouse ceremony here in town. It took us a while to get her things from her mom’s place. Her mom would just scream every time Sophie tried to call. It took me calling Roger and threatening him before he finally agreed to send us Sophie’s things.
The packages arrived mostly damaged, but luckily, Sophie hadn’t been too upset. She didn’t have much, but her important documents and a stuffed animal that she wanted arrived safely.
I smile as I see our oldest daughter, Eden, holding onto that very stuffed animal.
We found out that we were pregnant right after we got back from our honeymoon. We were both over the moon, though I know Sophie was scared that she wouldn’t be a good mom. We talked about it a few times, and each time, I reassured her that she was going to be an amazing mom.
I think that it took Eden being born for her to believe that though. As soon as she was holding our daughter, it was like everything clicked. She’s been amazing with our two daughters. Nothing like her own mom.
I still work for the Mountain Rescue, and Sophie was hired at the accounting firm in town. She works from home most days so she can be home with our girls.
Ever, our oldest daughter, is about to start kindergarten, and Eden will be following her next year. That will give both of us some more free time.
