“Not good enough. I want to hear it straight from you and I want you to tell me what that boy said to my daughter and if it was harassing at all, in actuality bullying, I want to know what you intend to do about it.” I already know what he said but I bet this pompous ass doesn’t.
He waves his hand around in the air. “Nothing. The case has already been settled. I talked to your daughter and she admitted she punched him. Even though there were witnesses so we didn’t need her to admit it.”
“Is that as far as your investigation has gone? You talked to Harley? What about the boy?”
“It wasn’t necessary to talk to him.”
“Oh, it’s going to be necessary. I’ll be talking to Rebel about this if you don’t fix it now.”
“It’s none of the mayor’s business.” For just a quick moment I see actual fear on his baby face.
“It’s her town. It’s her business. And it’s definitely my business. This is my daughter. I’m not letting you fuck around with her school record. I’ll go as high as I need to go to make sure that she gets back in class and this is fixed.”
He huffs. “Honestly, I don’t know why you’re getting so upset about this. It’s only a few days.”
“Very simple. It’s my daughter, asshole. Not yours, mine. You can do whatever you want with your kids but I’m gonna protect mine.”
He crosses his arms over his paunchy chest. “I’m not reversing this decision.”
I nod my head. “Well, I happen to know Rebel pretty well and I have a feeling that you are. So we’ll just see.”
I stomp out and as I’m leaving I see the red-haired teacher walking back into her classroom, her blue eyes meeting mine for half a second, her pale cheeks flushed. She bites her lower lip and my dick stirs to life, pushing against my zipper, desperate to reach her.
But she turns away, firming her lips and squaring her shoulders and I know that there’s just no way anything can happen with the two of us.
I want her though. But then again, I also want to spank her ass and tell her she’s my good girl.
And that isn’t right. Not at all. That woman is nobody’s good girl. She’s a terror. She’s a woman that would let a kid take the heat just to keep from getting in trouble for herself.
There’s a helluva lot to unpack with this day but I need to go talk to Rebel, need to make sure that she’s got my back.
Need to make sure that my daughter’s record is fixed and that the boy finds out that I’m not the kind of guy to let it lie if you mess with my family. One way or another I’m going to fix this.
And a certain red-haired siren is not going to entice me to change my mind. I’ve got my priorities straight. I don’t need or want another woman.
With Karen gone, I’m destined to be alone and that’s the way I like it.
TALLY
Iswear I can’t get away from these headaches. But the girls are getting together at the bar and I’m going. It’s been a long week and I need a little girl time to decompress.
Especially since Mark is pissed at me. The principal has done his best to be an absolute prick to me this week.
It started when he was summoned to the mayor’s office and I don’t know what exactly happened but I know that he came back to the office furious and informed me that Harley Marcone is coming back to class on Wednesday and that the two days she’s been off will be expunged off her record.
It also turns out that the boy made a comment to Harper about her mother being in hell and that he essentially was bullying her. He’s been informed that this is his one warning. He will not be so lucky next time if he decides to run his mouth again.
I struggle to keep my smirk under control while Mark is ranting in front of me. He’s livid and I’m trying to duck out of the office so that I can get my weekend started.
He sees me and waves me inside his office, slamming the door behind him.
“You’re going to chaperone the dance this weekend.”
I lift my brows and cross my arms. “I’m not. I didn’t volunteer. I have plans.”
“Cancel them. Mrs. Murdock was supposed to be doing it but she went into labor early so you’re going to cover for her.”
“I’m busy.” I’m not letting him push me into this.
