“Well, then, we’ll figure out the rest as we go, one day at a time.”

“I just feel like everything’s happening so fast.”

“Remember, you set the pace, Pres. If what happened last night was too much too soon... we hit the brakes.”

She gives me a shy smile. “What if I want to step on the gas?”

I couldn’t help the cocky grin that stretches across my face if I tried. “You sure as hell won’t hear me complaining.”

Her lips twitch. “Good to know.”

I grab her hand, telling my dick not to read too much into that. “C’mon, let’s get back before the sky opens up.”

“Hey, Beckett?”

I lift my brows in question. “Yeah?”

Presley squeezes my fingers. “I’m drivin’.”

I laugh. “You think so, huh?”

She reaches into my pocket and snatches the keys. I could stop her if I wanted to, but I don’t.

She holds the keys up and smiles victoriously. “Oh, I know so.”

Chapter Thirty-Seven

Presley

“We’re a mess, but that was so worth it!”

I kick off my boots and socks on Beckett’s front porch while he does the same. I took several detours on the way back and drove the ATV through every single mud puddle I could find. It’s been ages since I’ve done something so carefree, I couldn’t resist.

Beckett lifts a section of my hair. “I never considered what you’d look like as a brunette, but you could definitely pull it off. You know, minus the glops of mud.”

I roll my eyes. “You think you’re so funny, don’t you?”

“I have my moments.” His mouth kicks up in the corner as he opens the front door. “Now, get your sexy ass in the bathroom, and try not to leave a trail along the way.”

“You’re bossy today, aren’t you?”

Beck winks in reply and follows me into the bathroom. Reaching behind the shower curtain to turn the spray on, he says, “Give the water just a minute to heat up before you hop in.” He grabs a fluffy towel from the bottom of the open vanity and sets it on the counter. “Holler if you need anything.”

“Stay.” I manage to get the word out right before he leaves the room.

He pauses mid-stride and looks over his shoulder. “Pres, I don’t know if that’s such a good idea.”

I lift my borrowed T-shirt over my head and drop it to the floor. “Beckett, please. Stay.”

He swallows hard when his mocha-colored eyes fall to my breasts. “Honey, my willpower is shit right now. I don’t trust myself to be in the same room with you if you’re not wearin’ any clothes. I want you too much.”

“So, take me.” I don’t know who this bold woman is or where she came from, but I think I’ll keep her. “Get cleaned up with me, then take me. Show me how much you want me.”

“Pres.” Beck shakes his head. “I don’t think that’s a good idea after what happened this morning. You need time.”

I peel my wet jeans off my legs. “What I need is a reminder of what you feel like inside of me. Loving me. Touching me.”

Beckett curses when my bra joins the pile of clothing on the floor. “But, this morning—”
