“To Reed Point?” she asks, playing with the collar on my shirt.
“Yes, to Reed Point.”
“I do, I’m looking at places,” she answers easily, eyes even greener than they usually are. I’m under her spell.
“Move in with me, Ev. I have plenty of room. I thought we could paint the spare bedroom pink for Birdie. Get her one of those loft beds and a desk to do her homework.”
Everly goes quiet, pulling her bottom lip under her teeth. There’s that look that makes my pulse spike every time.
“Ev.” I scowl. “The distance is painful. Please, don’t make me beg.”
There isn’t anything I wouldn’t do to live under the same roof as her. This girl came into my life, fate worked its magic, and I’ve never been the same since. I can’t imagine my life without Everly and Birdie in it.
“I don’t know, Jake... I don’t think your closet is big enough for my stuff.” She smirks. Why am I not surprised she isn’t going to make this easy on me?
“I’ll build an addition on to the house if I have to. What else do you want? Name it, baby, it’s yours.”
She laughs. I kiss her neck. Then I nip her ear lobe. She moans. I have her right where I want her.
“Move in with me,” I plead when I pull my mouth away from her, looking for an answer in her eyes.
“Okay.” She smiles. “Okay, we’ll move in with you.”
I have no doubt she can see the excitement on my face. My heart pounds against my chest. “I want it to happen soon.”
“Like tomorrow?” she says, laughing.
“Yes, like tomorrow. And do not tease me right now when I’m trying to be cute and win you over.”
“I’ll stop teasing you.” She runs her knuckles over my jaw, then snakes her arms around my neck, love in her beautiful hazel eyes. “I hate living away from you. I never want to do that again.”
“I won’t let you.” I answer. “Ev, I’ve been thinking.”
“About?”
“I hope I can be a good influence in Birdie’s life. I want to be that for her.”
“You’re the best man I know.”
That. That right there makes the air rush from my lungs.
“I love you both, Everly.”
“We love you too, Jake.”
No matter how many times I hear her say that it will always feel the same. Incredible.
I lift Everly off her feet, her legs wrapping around my waist. I plant a kiss on her mouth. “You’re my girl.”
“I am, lover boy.”
I carry her into the kitchen and lie her out on my kitchen table. I look down at her with a mischievous smile. “I have five days to make up for. I’m going to fuck you on this table before I tie your hands to the headboard and fuck you in our bed. Then I’m going to make love to you in our shower, and I’ll decide what I feel like doing after that.”
She blushes. She’s perfect.
And gorgeous.
And mine.
