“Nice to meet you.” He smiled and just like that I was released from whatever spell he had me under. Dove looked over her shoulder confused until she spotted me. Her smile mixed with his made me stumble. It’s like her warm aura subdued the intensity of his, making me feel breathless. I blinked a tear that I quickly caught. “Quincey, London’s here.”

What the hell?

Wait, was this Quest?

Quincey told me he was at the launch but I never got the chance to meet him.

Behind him came the love of my life searching for me. Him standing next to his brother, now that took my breath away. Quest was just a large man with a large magnitude to match. Squinting, Quincey looked at me and then sucked his teeth.

“What did you say to her?” He pulled me in his arms and hugged me, rubbing up and down my back trying to soothe the unsettling I felt. My eyes were still locked with Quest. He’d freed me from his spell but I couldn’t look away.

I felt this pull towards him. As scary, handsome, and sexy as hell as he was, there was something so governing about this man. Like if he commanded me to walk a thousand miles, I’d do it just because he willed that type of authority. No doubt about it, he was neck and neck with Amell when it came to having that menacing energy too. Like he’d slaughter an entire fleet of criminals and pray over their graves.

And his voice…

Deep, soothing, raspy, and heavy.

If Quincey and Quest were brothers then what the hell was their father like? Actually, what was their grandfather like because these two kings before me were richly domineering without having to show their alpha card? It was in the smell of the air polluting around them. In the sternness of their eyes and erect posture. In the heaviness of their walks. Yes, both kings had heavy walks with a dip. And from where I was standing Quest was slightly bow-legged.

Dove, I really hope that’s your man, girl.

“London, this is my brother Quest. Quest, this is my forever. You already know who Dove is.” Turning me around to stand in front of him, Quincey wrapped his arms around me, anchoring me because I still wasn’t able to stand on my own.

In an olive green Just God puff short and t-shirt set with matching olive green heels, a woman who shared my love for a good stiletto, Dove came over. “Hey, London. Nice to see you again.” Instead of shaking my hand she pulled me from Quincey’s arms and hugged me. Her hair smelt as good as it looked. “I apologize for that. Quest can be a bit much.” She whispered in my ear.

“It’s okay.” I cleared my throat still transfixed on him. I hope Quincey wasn’t getting jealous. This wasn't my fault at all. His brother willed this unnatural power and I was a captive of its magnitude.

“Are you hungry?” Dove hadn’t let go of my hands. It’s like she knew I needed her energy to level me out. “The guys were going next door to get some food. We can talk about these custom pieces you want while they’re gone.” I appreciated her patience and need to explain things because I was cloudy in the brain.

“Sure. I’ll get the same thing you’re having.”

“Great. They have the best greek salad. I get a side of their garlic rolls and I’m in heaven. Come, let’s chat.” She winked at Quincey, pulling me with her. I walked with her help, head tilted up and eyes still on that damn man.

“I swear I can’t take you nowhere.” Quincey groaned.

Quest chuckled, pulling out his ringing phone. “When you’re ready to talk, Ms. London, I’m here.” He stepped to the side, finally, and I mean finally releasing me.

“What the hell was that?” I gasped out with teary eyes. Sitting on the acrylic barstool, I slung my purse on the table and snatched off my cardigan. I was hot as hell all of a sudden. “Can I get some water? Is it hot or just me?” Dove was tickled in giggles while Quincey handed me a bottle of water grumbling.

I used to think he was intense and such a larger than life being.

But Quest… what planet did that man come from?

Handing me a portable hand-held fan, Dove’s eyes clouded over in a love haze. “Quest is gifted. Very spiritually inclined and highly sensitive to others. He didn’t mean any harm. He has the gift of foresight too so whatever he saw caused him to do what he does best and cover you in prayer.” She shrugged like she just explained why no one on this planet can pronounce salmon right.

“Wow. So he’s just like you.” I teased Quincey who finally dropped his frown.

“Nah.” He shook his head. “He’s in a league of his own. I can’t compete where I don’t compare. There’s only one Quest Reid. Anyway, do you want something to drink?”

“Another bottle of water is fine. Thank you, babe.” Puckering my lips, I got my first kiss of the day.

“I’ll be right back.” Watching Quincey’s back muscles flex in his shirt caused my mouth to water.

“Y’all are so cute.” Dove giggled.

She’s one to talk. Quest might’ve been on the phone but his focus was on her and her only. He hadn’t taken his eyes off her. “How long have you and Quest been dating?”

We might as well start bonding and becoming friends since my man was her man’s brother.
