Kinley smiled at me one more time and climbed under the covers again. “Night, J.”

“Night, K.” I’d survived messing around with Kinley Summers. I’d tasted the sweetest fruit, but now I wanted to eat the whole thing. I wanted to plant the damn tree in my front yard and eat that fruit every day for the rest of my life.

Shit. I just hardcore fell in love with Kinley again.

When I rolled over in the morning, Jaxon was already awake. He saw me looking at him and sat up quickly. “Hey.” He cleared his throat. “Um, good morning.”

“J?”

“Yeah?”

“Don’t make it awkward.” I reached over and pinched his nipple through his shirt.

He grinned and shoved me. “You don’t make it awkward.”

I laughed out loud. “I would never.”

“You would, on purpose.”

I nodded. “Okay, yeah, I would.” I slid out of bed and headed for the bathroom. “I’m going to take a shower. Wanna come?”

Jaxon groaned and covered his face with both hands. “No. If I get in the shower with you, I will fuck you.”

Chills ran down my spine, and silly little butterflies rushed through my stomach. I couldn’t remember the last time I got butterflies hearing a guy say he would fuck me. “Whoa, J.” I bit my lip and slowly lifted my shirt.

Jaxon watched with his mouth slightly open until I’d inched my shirt up enough to expose the bottoms of my breasts. “Stop it.” He swallowed and stood. “Don’t you dare show me those tits, K.”

His mouth said, “Don’t,” but his eyes said, “Do.” I tugged my shirt off over my head and dropped it at my feet.

“Fuuuuck,” Jaxon whispered. He crossed the room with his eyes glazed over. He stared at me. He didn’t touch.

I’d pulled my shirt off to tease him, but the longer he just stared, the faster my heart raced.

A loud knock at the door made us both jump. “Kinley!” Preston yelled through the closed door. “Where are the extra towels?”

I rolled my eyes and pulled my shirt back on. I yanked the door open and said, “They’re in the dryer, dumbass.”

“I actually folded them and put them back in the hall closet,” Jaxon said.

My heart melted a little. “Aw, thanks, buddy.” I grinned at him.

Preston raised both eyebrows at Jaxon. “Are you trying to impress somebody, dude? Or are you that uptight?”

I smacked Preston’s chest. “He’s not uptight. He’s sweet. You could learn a thing or two from Jaxon. Then maybe Selena wouldn’t be pissed at you all the time.”

Preston groaned and leaned against the doorframe. “She is pissed at me again, and I have no idea what I did this time. Can you like be a pal and find out, Kinky?”

Jaxon and I spoke at the same time.

“Don’t call her that.”

“Don’t call me that.”

Preston laughed and held up his hands. “Sorry. I forgot you don’t like that. Kinley, will you please work in some girl talk with Selena today?”
