“So good, baby. So fucking good.” His breathing was getting heavier.
My pleasure was building with his, and I knew I was about to fall over the edge. My orgasm hit, and he followed close behind.
I love you. I’m so fucking in love with you. The words almost burst from my lips, but fear held them back. I’d said those words to a handful of guys, but I’d never meant them the way I did now. None of those other men even touched my heart, but J held the whole damn thing in his fist. He had the power to crush it with the slightest rejection.
I couldn’t say it yet, so I kissed him one more time and then slid off of him. He pulled me back into his arms after disposing of the condom, and I pretended to fall asleep against his chest. But, I stayed awake, listening to his heartbeat and melting at the adorable way he ran his fingers through my hair and kept kissing the top of my head until he fell asleep.
He had to feel it, too.
???
My alarm sounded at 5 am. I groaned and reached over to tap the snooze button on my phone. I had to get my ass up so that I didn’t miss my flight, but I saw that Jaxon was awake when I rolled over. He was propped up on his elbow, watching me with a slight smile.
“Hey.” I smiled and covered my face with both hands. I peeked at him through my fingers. “That was amazing last night, J.” What the hell was this? I was never shy about sex, and I was never shy around Jaxon. Apparently, sex with Jaxon turned me into a timid little school girl.
He grinned back at me and brushed the hair away from my face. “It was, K.”
“Listen, we should talk, like seriously talk, because I don’t think that was just sex last night.” I bit my lip with my heart racing.
“It wasn’t.” Jaxon’s eyes traveled slowly over my face.
My heart pounded, and I smiled, reaching out to run my fingers down the side of his face. “Good.” My alarm sounded again, and I groaned. “Okay, I have to get up right now, or I’m going to miss my flight. But I want to have this talk with you, and I don’t want to rush it.” I leaned in to kiss him softly. “What if I change my return flight and come into San Francisco?”
“Then I’ll be at the airport to pick you up.”
“Yeah?” I smiled as he pulled me into his arms.
“Yeah.” Jaxon kissed my neck and ran his hands gently down my back. “You can stay with me for a while, too.”
“I would love that, J.”
“Me too.”
“Ugh.” I groaned. “I have to go.” I forced myself to pull away from him. If I missed my first flight, I’d have a nightmare rearranging all of my travel plans. I climbed out of bed and pulled on a pair of jeans and a tank top over my underwear. “I’ll be in a pretty remote area, so I probably won’t have cell service or internet everywhere I go, but I’ll call and e-mail any chance I get.”
Jaxon covered his face with both hands and nodded. “Okay.”
I leaned down to give him a slow, deep kiss.
“Fuck, I’m gonna miss you, K.”
I sighed and cupped the side of his face. “I’m going to miss you, too. But there’s something here with us, J, and we’re going to figure out what it is when I get back.” I grabbed the bag that I’d finished packing last night and slid my phone into my pocket.
Jaxon sat up. “Kinley I—"
I held up a hand to stop him. “Don’t say it if it’s feeling words. I have to go right now, and if it’s feeling words, I’m going to climb back in that bed and miss all four of my flights and be so late for my job.” I laughed and pointed a finger at his face. “And don’t say feeling words in your emails, either! This talk is happening in three weeks!”
Jaxon smiled and bit his lip. “All right, K. I like you. Be safe.”
I put my hand on the doorknob and groaned. I turned to find Jaxon standing behind me, in a pair of black boxer briefs. He pulled me in for one more quick kiss, and his fantastic dick saluted me as I headed out the door.
I was still beyond excited to see the Amazon jungle, but now I was wishing I’d booked the job for one or two weeks instead of three. For the first time in my life, I couldn’t wait to get back home.

After Kinley left, I fell back asleep for another hour. When I woke up, I took a quick shower and headed down the stairs, already missing her. Beckett and Lyla looked up at me from the kitchen table with smirks on their faces. Beckett mimicked the squeaking of a bed, and Lyla made little moaning noises that sounded a lot like Kinley’s.
