“Do you have enough space in your village?” Di asked, his eyes never leaving me. “They will pay for what they’ve done to her.”
“Yeah, but it’s in another state. Benji can’t take everyone,” Pax said.
“We can,” Di said. “Get Medusa back to your place and take care of her. We need to get everyone here to a safe place. We don’t know if they want to go back to your village or they have someone missing them. We’ll figure it out and take them there. We’ll cover it up so no one knows what happened here.
And they could. Di and my friends could do literally anything.
So, our mate was Medusa, and she accidentally turned us to stone. We were going to have to work on trust and communication. If we had told her Di sent us, she might have told us she was Medusa instead of just telling us to leave her there. We could have explained the bearded guy and the necklaces he gave us so she knew it was safe. And Pax could have put them on us before we went storming the castle. We’d kind of forgotten about them.
I still didn’t know who Di and his friends were. They were eccentric as fuck. Medusa was thousands of years old and the Greeks hadn’t exactly been kind to her. She could have picked these guys up anywhere.
And damn. The intense goth guy had brought his wife. She was this petite, innocent-looking thing with her blonde hair in ponytails. She was wearing a light-pink sundress with unicorns and pixies on it to a slaughter. But when I looked close enough, those unicorns were definitely violating the pixies with their horns.
She was much smaller than the other three guys, who chose to appear to this in three-piece suits. I was just getting vibes off of her that she was the most dangerous out of all of them.
They were all watching me with Medusa cradled in my arms and they looked happy about it. Benji stuck his head in her cell to see if there was anything we needed to take. I doubted it.
“Hey, we doing anything with the fake nun statue in there? Love your work, little monster, but Pax can change her back if you’ve got regrets.”
“No,” Medusa snarled weakly. “She kept forgetting to feed me and she was just nasty. I tricked her into my cell and turned her to stone. They gassed us and that was when Hannibal showed up and started starving me for real.”
I didn’t know what Di was, but when he got pissed, he got this golden glow about him.
“Excuse me,” he said, straightening his tie.
I carried her to her cell since that was where he went. I figured she might want to see this. Di took his jacket off, folded it neatly on her mattress and started to roll up his sleeve. Medusa let out a little moan.
“What is it with men when they roll up their sleeves? It’s so hot when he does that.”
Yeah, it actually was. I could feel that Di was pack now that all of us were together and he was definitely hot rolling his sleeve up. He did what I would have done to get our mate back if there was a ward here preventing me from even seeing the place. But he also lied about a lot, including his name.
“Position her where she can see this. I don’t like how small she is since she ended up here, so don’t put her down. Are you watching, Medusa?”
“I’m watching, Di.”
Holy shit. His fist connected with the statue and it shattered into a million pieces. I didn’t think even a vampire could do that. Benji might with his shadows.
“That was hot,” Benji said. “Can we get her home? I don’t like the way she feels. We need to cook for her and give her a comfortable bed.”
“And a hot bath,” Medusa said. “They don’t have hot water down here.”
Benji was going to have to share when he killed Hannibal. Di just turned around and smirked.
“I’m sure you’re headed straight home, but you’ll need to get her clothes and other things a green witch needs. Let the Smith care for her while you two go out and buy things. We’ll be back once we’ve taken care of everyone else. You can’t go out like that,” Di said, snapping his fingers.
Before anyone knew it, Benji was completely clean and looked like he just walked off a runway. Di didn’t just dress him. He dressed him up and fixed his hair. I’m pretty sure he put a little eyeliner on Benji.
“That’s so much better,” Medusa sighed.
“Kat!” Benji yelled.
“Why are you screaming?” Kat demanded.
“The cavalry has arrived. Don’t know what these people are or what their names are but they can take you and your mates to your place or I can take you to our village to help bring the Coalition down.”
Her hybrid mate squared her shoulders.
“I want to bring these people down and Medusa’s cell was right next to mine. We had plans if we ever got out of here.”
