“No, no, no.” He tried to pull away, but I hooked my legs over his hips and held him to me.
“Macarius?”
He kept his eyes closed as though he was using all his energy to concentrate. “You need to be perfectly still. Don’t move.”
I obeyed, but I wanted answers. “Are you hurt? What’s going on?”
“My wolf is pushing to take things too far. Give me a minute to force him to back down.”
I snorted. “With my heat calling to him, I don’t think he’s going to go for that.”
“You aren’t the only shifter with unusual anatomy, pet.” He opened his eyelids and watched me with a hungry gaze.
Curiosity was a heck of a thing.
Licking my lips, I ground myself against him, eager to find out more about what upgrades my wolf mate was trying to hide from me.
“Ellora.” Macarius growled the warning, but I didn’t miss the way his hands helped me rock against him.
I nipped and licked his abs, loving the effect my touch had on him.
His breath hitched, and he dug his fingers into my hips. Once more, he tried to yank me off him, but I clamped my thighs around him.
“Ellora! Move!” he commanded me, but no sooner had the words left his mouth than I knew it was too late.
I whimpered in pain as he swelled inside me, stretching me beyond my comfort level and faster than I my body could adjust.
“Darling, look at me.” When my panicked gaze locked on his face, he spoke again. “It’s too late to stop this, but if you will trust me, and relax, I promise it can feel good.”
“I trust you.” As I relaxed, the odd round base of his cock slid inside.
I tentatively rocked my hips and found that not only were we locked together, but he was pressing against my most sensitive spot. Gasping with pleasure, I continued rocking until a final orgasm rippled through me and washed away the pain of the heat.
“Mark me again, Macarius. Please.”
Cradling my head, he placed his teeth over his first bite and claimed me a second time.
“Mine.” Warmth spread through me as I claimed my final mate.
Contented and exhausted, I drifted to sleep in my mate’s arms.
“Thanks for inviting us to dinner, Monroe. It was delicious.” I patted my stomach and groaned. “Although I’m so stuffed, I don’t know if I’ll be able to walk home!”
Monroe laughed. “I’m sure Macarius won’t mind carrying you. It seems like you’ve become his emotional support bunny.”
Macarius winked at me from where he leaned against the wall. He still wasn’t completely comfortable being around people for long stretches of time, but he was doing far better.
“I never thought my brother, the big bad wolf, could be tamed.” Reese playfully punched Macarius in the side. “Who knew you were such a softy?”
“Keep that to yourself, sis,” Macarius growled, but it was missing any real threat.
“Bro, half the pack has watched you piggy-back Ellora around town. Your rep has gone down the drain, but that’s on you.” Reese snickered and flopped down next to Monroe.
Leaning back against Quin’s chest, I sighed happily. I’d escaped a life that had nearly broken me, survived two attempts to make me return to the burrow, and then made it through my second heat. Thankfully I hadn’t heard from my old Burrow since the fiasco at the hotel.
Even better, my body was no longer in danger of giving out due to separation. The claims my bunny had made on my ex-matched had faded completely, and the only men she recognized as our mates were Quin, Coda and Macarius.
I was happy, free, and completely in love with my wolves.
