Epilogue

THE FEMALE AQUARIAN MAY APPEAR TO BE THE ICE QUEEN; BEAUTIFUL BUT DISTANT. THEY DON’T USUALLY FOLLOW THE GROUP, AND THEY LIKE UNCONVENTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Maris

One month later

My fingertips run along the buttons of the dress as it hangs against the window frame. A human dress is not what my father expected to be giving me away in, but I want to break free of old traditions.

“I can’t believe you’re getting married on a beach,” Pasha says, peeking out of the villa window.

“The sun is shining brightly on the Florida Keys, and the ocean is the prettiest blue. What more could a bride ask for?” I say.

“You have me there. I’m envious.”

“How are things going with Ryn?”

“He wants to go to France, and I’m thinking of finally accepting.”

“Put that guy out of his misery and tell him how you feel about him.”

“I plan to later tonight. How about you? When are you going to tell Kasper you’re trying to set his brother up with Nerida?”

“All in good time, my friend.” I kiss her cheek.

“Fifteen minutes,” someone shouts into the villa.

“Come on. Let’s get you into your dress,” Pasha says.

Once we’re both ready, we head to the arch, where I’m going to marry the man of my dreams. My father takes my arm, ready to walk me down the aisle. “You look beautiful. Both of you,” he says.

“Thank you,” we reply in unison. I’m glad Pasha and my dad have found a new understanding for each other.

The soft music starts, and we begin our walk. Kasper’s wearing shorts and a dinner suit jacket, which makes me smile. It’s quirky and sexy all at the same time.

“Hi,” I say when I reach the arch.

“Hello. Wow. I’m a lucky guy,” he says.

I smile even brighter, feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.

“Dearly beloved. We’re gathered here today to witness the marriage of Maris and Kasper,” the registrar begins.

I’ve never been happier. Everyone I love is here with me today in a beautiful location, and I’m marrying my soulmate. We say our vows before celebrating around a campfire, waiting for the stars.

“I’ve got you a wedding present,” Kasper says, pulling me towards the water.

“I thought we agreed not to do that,” I say.

“This was too perfect to pass on.” He pulls out a small box, and I open it.

“Two koi fish. It’s beautiful. Thank you.” The necklace is made from glass polished by the sea and seaweed.

“In Greek mythology, two koi fish represent Pisces. Legend says their tails are tied together to prevent them from losing each other.”

“That’s a lovely story.”

“I’m never letting go of you, Maris.”

We kiss passionately. “I’m not going anywhere without you.”
