This was the last thing he wanted to deal with.

Every day, millions of people fly around the world safely, he repeated. Every day, millions of people fly around the world safely …

It felt like it took hours but finally, finally, the plane’s wheels touched the ground with a shuddering jerk.

Jonah was the first person out of the plane.

He staggered down the stairs and threw up on the tarmac.

A few moments later, Felix was there with a bottle of water. Jonah took it gratefully.

“I’ll get our suitcases,” Felix said when he was done.

But Dustin was already wheeling them over. “Do you guys need anything else? Kate arranged for a car to get you home since you didn’t fly with the team on the way out. It should be here any minute.”

Jonah shook his head and Felix murmured a quiet no, then thanked Dustin.

God, had it really been less than twenty-four hours since they’d left Toronto? It felt like three lifetimes ago.

They waited in silence for a few minutes before a sleek black SUV pulled up.

“You want to go to your condo?” Jonah asked tiredly as they walked toward it.

“No. I’d rather go to Grandma Ji-min’s, if that’s okay. We don’t have to stay in the same room if you don’t want but I’d rather be close.”

When you have nightmares, Jonah mentally finished. Because there wasn’t a doubt in Jonah’s mind that he’d be plagued by them tonight.

God, it fucking pissed him off that everything felt so tense and fraught between them and yet he felt so relieved that Felix wanted to be there for him.

It somehow didn’t seem fair.

But maybe that was what good romantic relationships were like.

He and Felix had never really argued much. Oh, they’d had their share of dumb fights but they were the kind of things that blew over quickly.

His grandparents had certainly had some disagreements when he was growing up but they had never lasted long either.

Could he hope for the same for him and Felix? Or had Jonah pushed him too far?

“You need anything to eat?” Felix asked quietly as he let them into Grandma Ji-min’s house.

Jonah still looked shell-shocked and he jerked like he hadn’t realized Felix was beside him.

Jonah shook his head, then hesitated. “Well, I should probably have something. I’m not hungry but …”

But they’d expended a shitload of calories tonight and though they usually ate on the flights home, it had been too turbulent for a meal service.

“I’ll heat some stuff up.” Felix stripped out of his suit jacket and draped it over the stool at the counter. “I’m sure there are leftovers.”

He pulled open the refrigerator, staring blankly at the contents. There was plenty of food inside but he wasn’t sure what Jonah wanted. He doubted Jonah knew what he wanted.

“You don’t have to do this,” Jonah said.

Felix grabbed a casserole dish at random. “And if I want to?”

Jonah made a disparaging noise.

Felix closed his eyes and took a deep breath. God, he loved Jonah. He loved him so fucking much but tonight he wanted to strangle him.
