“I can’t promise we won’t get rougher. We probably will. You’re not falling into the heat like you should. This isn’t a regular heat. This is all wrong. I wish I could save you from this.”
I know.
“Stop saying that!” Odie snapped, and I looked away from her. “God damn it.” She rubbed a hand down her face. “There will never be anything we can do to make this up to you.”
“We would do anything to stop this. Anything. If we could leave, we would. Please know that, Mine. Please don’t hate us.” Cy’s breath was hot on my back. I knew she was telling the truth, but that didn’t help anything.
Besides, chaining themselves up and staying away from me was one possibility, but did I want to be chained as well? As I thought it, my pussy clenched again, reminding me that we were stuck together, literally, and my pheromones would drag them back before they could get far enough away. We were all aware enough that the fog was gone, but that didn’t mean we weren’t still slaves to the heat. If they tried to leave, a whine would force its way out, and we would be back to square one.
I wanted to make them leave, but I also couldn’t allow it. I was stuck between a rock and a hard place with no way out until everything was over. We were here, and we weren’t going anywhere. The only hope we had was this being a short heat and it taking over fully instead of leaving me aware and fighting it.
“Sleep if you can. Another wave will hit soon, and your pheromones will be begging us to take you again.” Odie kissed me on the nose, and I nodded.
Closing my eyes, I hoped sleep would take me for a while so I could recover some and be ready for whatever they had in store for me next.
I moistened my lips as the need to lick them surfaced, and I knew I would have much less time than any of us anticipated.
Chapter 34
Cy
This was torture. I breathed in Mine’s scent as I buried my face in her hair. Odie and I shared a saddened look, knowing none of us would ever be the same after this.
I knew what I had said and done to her, and there was no taking it back. I wanted her with every cell of my being, but without the rut taking over, I would never have done this to her. She was meant to be cherished and loved, not have cocks forced into her.
We could only hope that whatever made our Omega special helped her to recover and forgive us.
Our knots took forever to deflate, leaving us little time to soothe our Omega and hope the heat blocked out any conscious thought besides needing our knots inside her.
Odie deflated first, pulling out while Mine slept between us. She got up and turned on the faucets for the tub, getting everything ready in there while I held Mine against my chest, whispering sweet words into her ear, hoping she heard the truth in them.
Finally, my knot deflated as well, and I carried Mine into the bathroom, stepping into the tub and sinking down into the hot water. I cringed, remembering the last time I had helped her into one.
She was covered in blood, and I had failed to save her. Here I was again, doing the same thing. We were shitty mates if this was all we had to offer her.
“Here,” Odie said, handing me a washcloth to wipe her face down with a cool rag.
Although the hot water would soothe her body, her face was hot, and the fever brought on by the heat was taking hold. It was ramping up again, far sooner than it should be, at least based on what we were taught. There should be more time between rounds so that the Omega can rest, and Alphas can pamper them. This wasn’t right. None of this was.
Mine whined in her sleep, causing us both to hiss and our cocks to twitch.
“I hate this.”
“I hate us if I’m being honest,” I added. This wasn’t something we could make up for. Nothing we did would fix this. Time would tell what would happen to us, and all we could do was live through this, then wait.
“Agreed.” We were both defeated, waiting for the next round to come.
If we left right now, we could make it far enough. We could manage to get away from the pheromones and prevent more damage, but like we told Mine, it wouldn’t be fun for her either way. So did we leave her and let her have no reprieve, thinking her Alphas abandoned her like her family had done too many times, or did we stay and take something she wasn’t offering, even if it meant a little reprieve when pleasure took over? There was no winning, no clear answer.
I knew what I wanted to do. The smart decision would be to leave. She was used to being abandoned. We could work through that, but the rut was still low in my gut, making it difficult to voice this and take action.
“We should go,” Odie said, beating me to it.
“We should.” Neither of us moved as I continued to wipe across Mine’s face and hold her body to me, her scent of peaches and mint laced with a bitterness that hadn’t been there before. The longer I held her, the more that part lessened. I also knew the second I let go and she didn’t feel me anymore, a whine would come.
I guessed there was a third option. One of us would have to stay at the very least. Did we take the heat—pun intended—as a team or leave one of us unscathed? Too bad that ship had sailed. We were both doomed no matter what thanks to Vaila.
“I’m going to—” Odie stood up at the same time Mine whined, causing our bodies to tense.
