“Where are you taking me, Vaila? Why are you doing this?” I got one good kick in just low enough that whoever this man was grunted and stalled for a second.
“Wipe that smirk off your face. There’s nothing you can do to prevent this.”
“Fuck you. Fuck all of you. When they find out I’m missing, they are going to hunt you down and kill you. You do know who you’re messing with, right? Their track record? You’re screwed, Vaila.” I pressed up on his back and glared at her with my red hair falling in my face.
The Omega followed behind her, his face void of emotion now, which only served to irritate me more. “We aren’t—” Vaila started, but I cut her off.
“It doesn’t matter whose bitch you are. You’re dead. They are dead. This douche beneath me is dead. Dead, dead, dead. I hope you rot, Vaila. I trusted you. We all did. You slimy mother fucking—” Vaila shut me up with a slap across my face.
“Shut up, Ellie! I can’t wait for your aunt to take over. My god, Mine has ruined you. All of you.”
Aunt. The one word I didn’t want her to say, but it gave them the proof they needed. Lucinda was behind this, and I was going to be stuck in an unspeakable hell until they found me.
That was if they found me.
“Of course you’re working for Lucinda. I hope you two rot together in hell.” I made sure to say it loud enough for the cameras to pick it up and crossed my fingers that Vaila didn’t think about them or didn’t mind that we were being recorded.
She knew Cy had laced this place, so I had to assume she simply didn’t bother to care about them. Her confidence worried me. If she didn’t care, then she believed that nothing they heard or saw would help them.
When it was just Vaila and some unknown face as her boss… I could dream of them finding me sooner than later, but Lucinda, she knew how to hide all of this and make me disappear.
At least I knew the facade was over with. She was finished. With that one word, Vaila doomed her as well, even more so than before.
It was all over for them. I just had to survive until then.
And I would, but flashes of what was to come crossed my mind, and I wasn’t sure if physically surviving this would be enough.
I dropped my head, accepting my sentence. I’d go with them and wait and hope that nothing happened, but I doubted Lucinda would give me any special treatment.
Her track record for saving missing Primarchs was astonishing, so now, all I could think about was how many went missing and how many stayed that way.
It was the perfect cover, and I had been doomed from the start.
Chapter 37
Mine
Three Days After Heat, Eight Days Since Kidnapping
While I was having my meltdown, Cy had scoured the security tapes, and Odie had gotten in contact with Gerard. Everything was set into motion within hours, but since then, we had been at a standstill.
Lucinda had vanished. Apparently, she had disappeared well before this, and Gerard didn’t do shit about it. He felt horrible and blamed himself, and I made sure he knew I also blamed him now. This wouldn’t have happened if he had just believed Ellie from the beginning.
His sister was a piece of shit, and it was time he accepted it.
I didn’t mention that without everything that happened and Oliver attacking me, we wouldn’t know we were mates, but that was an entirely different issue that I was ignoring. We were focused on Ellie.
We had moved to Gerard’s mansion, and I had poked around the place, including all their old bedrooms. Sometimes I needed to take my mind off the present, and it helped. The entire place was on lockdown. More often than not, Gerard was near me, by threat of death from his daughter and adoptive daughter. He would be able to control any Alpha that came near us, and Oliver could handle any Beta as well.
I was the weak link, but no one liked my idea of getting a relic. I’d like one that matched Oliver’s extra healing, and a sharp set of teeth to rip someone’s throat out sounded great.
I was surprised that Odie and Cy let him near me, but since Gerard was now on our side, they weren’t stupid enough to kill him just yet. Cy glared him down every time they were in a room together, and I knew the day would come that he’d get what was coming, but for now, he stayed in the background.
Cy and Odie were in and out, doing what they did best and trying to find any noise about Vaila, Ellie, or Lucinda, as well as any information about auctions. The thought of Ellie being sold to someone made me nauseous, and the thought of what might have already happened to her didn’t help.
It was all disgusting, and I made them promise that I’d get to smash someone’s face in. It was the least they could do.
With them in and out, I was able to heal a little. I flinched a little if they touched me without getting my attention first, and I refused to be in bed with them, but I only had nightmares on the first night, so I’d call it a win.
