“Sounds like that would be yet another pleasure of mine.”

“I’ll do my best.” He winked at her, then unlocked the front door, resetting the security system as soon as they were inside. He locked the door behind them, and then in one swift movement, backed her against it. Taking both her hands in one of his, he pinned then over her head. Involuntary tremors shivered through her at the dominance of his touch. He kissed first her mouth then the side of her face then her neck. The velvety touch of his lips sent a burning, electric feeling to her heart.

“Is this part of your fantasy?” she asked, panting a little.

He lifted his face. “You’re my fantasy, Jill.” Slowly, he released her, took her by the hand and led her down the dark hall to a large oak door with his name on a gold plate.

“Ooo, is Mr. Novak in?” Jill cooed, enjoying the way her nerves buzzed with anticipation.

“I’ll check,” he said playfully. “Do you have an appointment?”

“Yes. Yes, I do,” she said. “A private one.”

Cole smiled that gorgeous, blinding smile of his as he unlocked the door. He led them into his office and once again, closed and locked the door behind them. “Here we are,” he said. It was dark and Jill couldn’t see much of his office. “Nothing too exciting. If you’ve seen one office, you’ve seen ’em all.”

Maybe, she thought. But there was only one Cole Novak.

And she intended to use her appointment time with him wisely.

Chapter Eleven

Jill’s nerves were humming now with barely contained energy. As Cole kissed her, little shivers danced up and down her body, alternately hot and cold. What had happened to the tame woman she once was? How could it be that in a matter of days a man would come into her world and turn it upside down—turn her inside out? She was no longer the bland, daycare provider Jill when she was with Cole. Somehow he’d unlocked doors inside her she hadn’t even known existed.

Doors that led to desire, wanton need, and naughty, naughty ideas. With a trembling hand, Jill reached over and unlocked the office door.

Cole broke their kiss and pulled back to peer into her face. “It’s okay if you don’t want to do this.”

Oh, she wanted to do this. “I’m fine. I just need a minute to…get ready. Do you mind waiting in the outer office for just a few minutes?” An idea was brewing in her mind, making her giddy with excitement.

Cole drew his brows together. “Are you sure everything’s okay? Is this too weird for you?”

“Just wait outside for a few.”

“Okay…” He was still rooted to the spot, so she pulled open the door and gently pushed him out. There was no way she could move him on her own, but finally, he took a step forward. She gently shut the door before looking around.

Go big or go home, she thought, heading over to Cole’s oversized oak desk. It was neat and organized. She moved the phone and his “In” and “Out” boxes off the desk and sat them temporarily on the ledge along the window behind it. She removed the blotter then, spotting a soft afghan on the back of his leather sofa, she covered the desk with it. Lastly, she took off all her clothes.

There was a little lamp on the table nearest the small sofa, which she unplugged and re-plugged behind the desk where it would cast a light glow across the surface. Finally, she switched off the bright fluorescent overhead light before taking her phone out of her purse and lying down across the desk. Butterflies did somersaults in her stomach, the tickling sensation reminding her of how she felt when she was on the back of Cole’s bike.

She loved it.

After pressing Cole’s number into her phone, he answered immediately. “Hello?”

“Mr. Novak?”

She heard him laugh softly. “Yes, Ms. Jones. But why are we being so formal?”

“I like to be professional at work. I’m afraid I can’t find what I need in your office. And it’s something I need very badly.”

“Is that right?” He chuckled, though there was harsh, breathless quality that told her his imagination was going exactly where she wanted it to.

“Yes sir. I’ve looked everywhere for it. Maybe we’d have more luck if you helped me?”

“I’ll be right in.”

Immediately, Jill saw the turn of the brass handle. She braced herself on one elbow, allowing her long hair to spill out across her shoulders and lightly brush against her breasts. Arousal pooled in her belly.

Cole stepped through the door, his eyes falling on her. Even from across the room, she sensed him tense. A slow smile spread across his face and he stalked toward her, his eyes gleaming. He stopped near the desk and folded his arms across his chest.
