“Go ahead, parasite. I fucking dare you.” I bared my teeth, tasting the blood coating them from my split lip. “They’ll execute you the second my body hits the ground.”

He snarled, fangs gnashing inches from my face. He yanked me flush against his hard chest and slammed me into the bars again.

My head thudded painfully, but I choked down the urge to curse him out, instead letting a too-wide grin part my lips. “That’s it, demon. Show us your true nature.”

Maybe I’d been wrong to think more demons deserved to be saved. Clearly, at each one’s core, was a vicious monster waiting to be set free.

He leaned close, running his nose along my throat until I shivered.

But not in the disgusted way I had with my ex this close just moments ago.

At this point, I was too stupid to live.

The crowd roared obscenities and encouragements, revelling in my imminent demise.

Lips brushed the shell of my ear, drawing another shiver through me. “Or perhaps I should return the favour, hmm?” He ignored my mocking and squeezed, cutting off my airway in an imitation of the scratched metal collar around his neck. My vision danced, and he released me just enough to suck in a ragged breath. “Every night I dream about choking on you, poison.”

My brain must have glitched from the lack of oxygen, because I could have sworn he’d said “on.”

His hand tightened again, and he pressed me into the cage bars. “Do you know how addicted I am already? Maybe if you’re dead, I can stop fantasising about how you taste.”

I frowned, realising I was just letting a demon manhandle me.

With a snarl, I jerked up my knee, aiming for his balls, but he dodged back with an infuriating smirk. Gore painted his carved features, giving him an even more sinister edge.

A low chuckle rumbled his chest, trembling the scant air between us. “That all you got, poison?”

His taunt had me swinging, feinting left before ducking right. I smashed my fist into his sternum, doubling him over, and darted back before he could get his claws into me.

His tail hooked my throat, stopping me short, and I choked hard on the living collar.

“Not so fast, huntress,” he sneered, straightening to his full height.

I reached out and yanked further up his tail, tipping him towards me.

He wasn’t expecting me to use his own body as leverage and staggered right into my waiting fist. Luck was on my side, because I hit his face just right, avoiding his horned brows.

His tail slackened from my neck as he dropped to a knee, spitting a mouthful of blood to join the rest splattered across the canvas.

The demon tipped his face up and smiled, teeth smeared a bright crimson. “Okay, poison, I’ll let you win this round.” He raised his claws in slow surrender, mocking me even though I’d rocked him. “Since you asked so nicely, I’ll be a good boy.”

Chapter 14

The monster climbed to his feet, taking his sweet time. Blood flowed down the muscular dips and valleys carved across his chest and arms.

I grimaced. He must be in pain, but he still moved with a fluid grace that spoke of strength, both body and will.

Maybe he really had “let me win.” The thought made my jaw tick.

I gestured to the cage door. “Parasites first.”

He smirked, giving me his back without hesitation. And I could see why.

The same bone spikes that topped his shoulders and elbows also ran the length of his spine, stopping inches from where his thick tail started. Tribal markings flowed along either side, almost glowing silvery white against his slate skin. My gaze dipped, taking in the firm shape of his arse even the sweatpants couldn’t conceal. I bit my lip, yanking my eyes back up to the danger.

What was wrong with me?

A demon gets me off with some magical venom, and now I’m a complete perv.
