He stepped in close, hand fisting in my hair. I couldn’t look away from his starlit eyes, trapped in his hold.
“Then let me prove it.”
His lips pressed to mine, sweet and sinfully slow.
There was a promise on his lips.
And it terrified me because I knew mine were answering right back.
Something warmed in my chest, like my heart was basking in sunlight.
An eternity passed as he kissed me like I was the answer to every question he had.
He growled deep in his throat, vibrating my lips. His hands tightened in my hair, pricking my scalp. He deepened the kiss as heat sparked through me. I craved him with a desperation that took my breath away.
“Liliana,” he murmured against my lips, pulling back just enough for me to gasp a ragged breath. “I’m addicted to more than just your blood. Everything about you is intoxicating.”
A loud bang had me shoving out of Sin’s hold, preparing to attack.
A man stood in the pub doorway, a scowl etching his craggy features. “Hey! You two can’t be out here fucking like horny teens.”
Sin pursed his kiss-swollen lips, looking wholly unconcerned by the shouting human. “Come on, poison. Let’s get your friend back to our home.”
Our home. Those two words mocked me with a sense of longing that I shouldn’t have.
“Sorry,” I cringed, giving the man an awkward wave. At least he hadn’t spotted Arsen’s body sprawled by the brick wall. “We’re just leaving.”
“If you’re not gone in five, I’ll call the police on your canoodling arses.” The old grouch slammed the door behind him.
Sin’s low chuckle rumbled beside me, and I shot him a glare, but quickly looked away.
I didn’t know what to make of him. Of us. Things were spiralling out of control so fast I was dizzy.
I’d hurt him, and he’d returned the favour. He took my breath away, but half the time threatened to do so for good. He claimed I was his with sweet words and collared me like his captive. He protected me. Cooked for me. Healed me.
We were sworn enemies, yet the sparks between us caught fire until I burned for him.
Nothing made sense.
And he’d still execute me when he found out what I was hiding, regardless of whatever demonic blood bond may or may not be forming.
I had to escape him before it was too late. Despite the insanity he made me feel.
My attention snagged on the hunter still passed out. I was no doctor, but being unconscious that long seemed unhealthy.
The demon followed my gaze to his other prey. “He’ll be out for a while longer after the dose I gave him.”
I blanched at his implication. “Are you saying you could have knocked me out with your bite at any time?”
He flashed me a fanged smirk. “You’re not the only poisonous one here.”
I swallowed thickly. I’d been in more danger feeding him than I’d realised.
Hard to push a lethal collar remote if you were unconscious. He could easily have torn open my arteries, bleeding me out.
My life had been in his claws for weeks without me knowing.
“I see you’re finally noticing how nice I’ve been.” He bared his teeth in a vicious smile. “You’re welcome.”
