It was the perfect opening to the interview and Danielle allowed each of the guys to shine. Walking them through the interview, helping them look like pros. Until she threw in the kicker.
“So, we heard a woman in the clip. Is she the inspiration for Dirty Blonde? And whose girlfriend is she?”
Xavier looked to Jax, “Wanna jump in, mate?”
“She’s your woman.”
“I’d love to meet her and I’m sure everyone voting wants to meet the original Dirty Blonde.”
“I’m seriously a behind-the-scenes girl.” I refused to budge and get into view. “But if you want to know what the band really sounds like, ask them to play Deluge of Darkness. Xavier wrote it in an hour and it’s gonna be bigger than Dirty Blonde.”
“There you have it, Australia. You have a new favorite band, with my new favorite sexy rockstars. We’ve got just enough time for them to see us out with Deluge of Darkness. Make sure you catch The Flying Monkeys in March Online where they’ll be playing with Xavier’s brother’s band, Stormy Waters to make lockdown a little less quiet and a lot less boring.”
Danielle nodded to the boys who didn’t hesitate to rip apart a song that didn’t exist two weeks ago. Nailing every riff and handing over solos to each of the band. Their song to shine individually and to scream out who they were—an Australian band who’d found their time.
“All I need now is a cold beer and a warm mouth wrapped around my cock,” Devon yawned after the camera stopped rolling. I didn’t react, Devon sprouted shit all the time. In normal speak, he needed a break from the pressure.
“I’ll get you that beer,” I said, looking around to the others, “Anyone else?”
“Couldn’t wait to grab her for yourself?” Xavier stood over Devon’s keyboard. “My bed isn’t even fucking cold and you—”
“Chill, mate. I was joking. Your mouth would do.” Devon joked to Xavier before looking to me, “I’d prefer Sydney handcuffed to me for life. But only if she’s willing to scream it green.”
“Fuck off and shut the fuck up.”
“When are you two gonna just grab some gloves and duke it out,” Trent mused. “We can even post it online and get fans to judge.”
“She’s not worth it. In any case, we need Devon’s hand healed, not broken like Xav’s heart.” Jax ignored my offer to get drinks, preferring to join me at the bar to get his own.
“Asshole,” I muttered, trying to get back to Xavier before things got out of control.
Too late.
“Just make a fucking decision!” Devon argued, not backing down. “Have you moved out of her room for good?”
“None of your business.”
“It’s all our business, if you haven’t noticed, she’s the only girl here.”
“She’s also standing here, and can hear you!” I tossed the beers, not caring if they spewed over when open. “She has a mind of her own and isn’t afraid to use it! Stop talking about me as if I don’t—”
“You know how I feel about you,” Chase cut in. Physically and verbally stopping me in my tracks. Cupping my face, forcing me to stop looking for Xavier and see only Chase’s black on blacks. “He isn’t your only option. Say the word, and we’ll be gone in an hour.”
“Fuck off,” Xavier slurred, swaying his way towards us. “Mates don’t try to fuck their mate’s, oh, right, you already have.”
“Xavier!” I tried to edge around Chase, but Xavier waved me away.
“Nah, the guy’s had a taste and now he wants the main meal. Chase loves you.”
“He’s not you.”
“Devon wants a bj.”
“He’s not you.”
“Just do what you want, Sydney. Do who you want. I don’t care.”
Xavier stormed off, towards my beer garden. Was it a sign? Did he want me to follow, knowing it was my space he’d invaded?
