“For you, the most beautiful girl in my life.” He kissed the petals before offering it to me. Needing me to come closer to collect.
“In your life?” I laughed.
“Well, if I’d said the most beautiful girl in the pub that sounds kind of bogan. The most beautiful girl in the world, and you’d know I was lying or exaggerating. But when I tell you that you’re the most beautiful, sexy, amazing woman in my life, please Sydney, you’ve got to believe it.”
Forget Xavier and Chase, Devon should be their song writer!
His door was still shut, and I didn’t know whether we were going out to the bus and all his toys, or inside. I’d never been in Devon’s bedroom. There hadn’t been any need. We’d found our own style of normal in the most abnormal places. Against the pool table would always be my favorite.
“So, how’s this going to work?”
I drew close enough for his hands to rest easily against my hips. His lightest touch almost sending me into another stratosphere. But I only realized I’d started rubbing my wrists when he left my hips, cupped my hands into his and laughed.
“No, nothing like that.” He massaged the full length of my fingers until they opened. “Tonight, my darling, it’s all about you.”
“Okay.”
“When the clock downstairs chimes nine, I’m going to invite you into my bedroom. You’re gonna trust me. Yeah?”
I nodded; he’d never let me down before.
“You’re gonna let me do whatever it takes to make you scream my name.”
“I like the sound of that.”
“No faking!” he warned.
“I’ve never had to fake with you before, why would tonight be any different?”
“Then, no holding back on me just so your old man wins.”
“Well, isn’t that up to you to make sure I can’t.” Flirting with Devon had become one of the highlights of lockdown. He never disappointed.
“Oh, Sydney.”
At the same time the chimes started from downstairs, I heard the smack talking from the others.
“Let the games begin!” Chase’s deep throaty bellow. Not amused.
“Don’t forget to ask her what she wants!” Of course, Jax could never let a moment go by without being an asshole.
“Get it over and done with,” Trent’s only contribution to the debate.
“Leave them alone, they’ll be down soon enough.” At least Xavier had my back. Our back.
There was no rushing to get me inside his room. Devon leisurely lifted my hand to his lips. Kissing each finger that still felt the seductive stroke of his. Each kiss igniting nerves from my fingertips to my clit. I’d thought that Chase had that particular key.
Only after each finger had been well and truly massaged and kissed, did Devon open his door. His room, similar in size to mine, but that was where the similarities ended. More keyboards and spare guitars than furniture. But still, it was the king size bed that claimed centre stage. A white sheet, probably covering the boring brown bedspread, strewn with flower petals.
“Potpourri,” Devon explained while leading me forward. “It was the closest I could do under the circumstances.”
“You went to some effort.”
“You’re worth it.”
Devon gently, slowly, lowered me to the middle of his bed. The man should have been in a rush, precious minutes were ticking over. Jax and Xavier wouldn’t take all night, like Chase.
“Are you ready?” He croaked, eyes already glassy.
