Page 23 of One is Never Enough

“I’m not worried about Oli. I’m worried about the guy who thinks he can touch what’s mine.” Every time Oliver says anything, the guy whose face I can’t see rubs Oliver’s arm. I reach for the door handle, and Aiden grabs my arm.

“If you go in there guns blazing, you’re going to piss Oli off. This is his business you’re interfering with.”

“I’m just supposed to sit here and watch?”

“No. You go about it in a gentler way.” Aiden pulls out his phone, dials, and flips it to speakerphone. I watch Oliver check the caller ID, and the brightest smile lights up his face. Why didn’t I think of that?

“Hey,” Oliver answers, excusing himself from the table. He walks out onto the street, and I can’t drag my eyes away from him.

“Hey, Darling,” Aiden purrs, and I roll my eyes. “How’s work going?”

“It’s okay. I’m almost done with this meeting, and I have a couple more.” Oliver pauses and bites his lip. “I miss you guys, though.”

Aiden gives me a ‘I told you so’ look. “We miss you, too. Why don’t we all meet at Jace’s office for lunch?”

“I’d love that. Is Toby with you?”

“Hey, Baby.” Oliver smiles again, and my heart flips in my chest. I’m so fucking gone for him that it’s scary. I know I shouldn’t follow him around, but I can’t help myself. This is something else Jace is going to kick my ass for. At this point, I might as well just live on my knees.

“Hey. How are things going at Inferno?”

Aiden tucks his lips to keep from laughing, and I punch him in the arm. “We’re getting ready to pull in.”

“Tell Zac and Vince I said hi,” Oli laughs.

“I will. We didn’t like that you took an Uber this morning, so Jace has his driver waiting outside the restaurant for you. He’s going to take you to the rest of your meetings.”

“Toby,” Oliver groans.

“No arguments,” Aiden cuts in. “We like to know you’re safe. We’ll see you at Jace’s.”

“Okay,” Oliver sighs, but I can see the smile on his lips. “I’m going to head back in.”

We say our goodbyes, and I finally pull away from the restaurant even though I still want to go in there and rip that guy’s arms off. Pulling into Inferno ten minutes later, I park behind the building and go in through the back door. Zac and Vince are already waiting for me at the bar.

“Did you get lost?” Zac asks, looking at his watch. “You were supposed to be here thirty minutes ago. Some of us have other jobs to get to.”

“He had to stalk Oliver first,” Aiden says with a grin. “And he made me an accessory.”

“Oliver? As in, Oliver, Oliver?” Vince asks.

“What other Oliver would there be?” I reply. “Yes, that Oliver.”

“When the hell did that happen?” Zac responds, looking between Aiden and me. “Last I heard, he left your ass in the dust, and you two weren’t talking.”

“We fixed it, and Oli is back. Are we going to gossip all day or get on with the meeting?”

“Are we going to skip past the fact you were stalking Oliver?” Vince throws in.

“Yes.”

Zac shrugs. “I have a more important question. When do we get to watch you play with Oliver again? That boy is sexy as hell.”

I lunge for Zac before I even realize what I’m doing. I grab him by the shirt and push into his face. “Don’t you ever talk about him like that again.”

“Whoa. What the fuck?” Zac says, holding his hands up. “I was just fucking with you.”

“Toby,” Aiden says gently. “Let him go.”
