Page 47 of One is Never Enough

“I’m kidnapping you, Baby.” I jog up the stairs and go straight to Jace’s room. I set Oliver on his feet and grab his face. “Get dressed. I want to take you somewhere.”

“Where are we going?” he asks, walking toward the closet. He disappears inside, and I hear him rummaging through his clothes.

“It’s a surprise.”

Oliver’s head pops back out, and he has the sweetest smile on his face. “Just us?”

“Just us, Baby.”

I love the life that we’re building, but I haven’t had a chance to just be with Oliver again. I just hope he likes his surprise.

Oliver comes out dressed in jeans and a soft-looking t-shirt that makes his eyes stand out. Grabbing his hand, I lead him downstairs, where we put on our shoes and head for the garage. With a grin, I grab the keys to Jace’s Maserati and open the door for Oliver. He slides in, and I jog to the other side.

I jump in, stab the button to start it, and back out of the garage. When I’m on the main road, I grab Oliver’s hand and kiss his knuckles.

“Jace is going to spank you for stealing his car again,” Oliver laughs.

“One can only hope. If he didn’t want me to steal it again, he should have hid the keys.”

“Are you really not going to tell me where we’re going?” I shake my head, and he laughs. “Fine. I like just being with you anyway.”

I relax back in the seat and take the road that will lead us out of the city. Oliver and I talk about everything and nothing. He laughs more freely now, and he doesn’t shy away from my affection. Twenty minutes later, I pull in front of a familiar two-story home.

“Where are we?” Oliver asks, looking through the windshield.

“My mom’s.”

Oliver whips around to look at me. “Your mom’s?”

“I figured it was time you met her.” Oliver starts chewing on his bottom lip, and I know he’s worried about something. “What’s going on in that beautiful head of yours, Baby?”

“Does she know?”

“About all of us? Yes.”

“I remember asking before, and you said she had a hard time accepting this.”

“That was until she saw how happy I was. My mom is…old school. It just took her a little longer to come to terms with me being gay. It took her no time to accept the fact that I have all of you in my life. I love you, Oliver, and I want you to meet the most important person in my life.”

Oliver smiles, and it lights up his entire face. “Okay.”

I push my door open and jog around to Oliver’s side to help him out. When I do, I grab his hand and start leading him to the porch. Mom jerks the door open before I even have a chance to knock. “Toby!” She jerks me into a hug, squeezing me tight.

“Hi, Mom.” I kiss her cheek and pull back. “This is Oliver.”

“It’s nice to meet you,” Oliver says shyly, and my mom grabs his hand.

“It’s so nice to finally meet you, too. Toby talks about you all the time.” Mom tugs on Oliver to follow her into the house, making him drop my hand. I see his shoulders relax the further she pulls him into the house. “You’re even more handsome than what he described.”

“Mom,” I laugh, following behind them. She pulls Oliver down on the couch beside her, and I sit in the chair across from them. “You’re embarrassing him.”

Oliver’s face is blood red, but he’s smiling. “It’s okay.”

“I’ve been dying to meet the boy who stole my son’s heart.” She looks closer at Oliver’s neck, specifically at his collar, and she claps her hands. “Jace did the thing! I’m so happy for you guys!”

Oliver’s hand automatically goes to the collar and rubs his fingers across it. “You know about this?”

“Of course. Jace calls me every other day to check in. As does Aiden. I might not fully understand what it means, but I know it’s important to Jace.”
