“Like what?”

“The details are a surprise. Get in the shower.”

She sits up at my commanding tone. “Yes, Sir.”

“Make sure you don’t wear any panties, Mckenna.” A blush spreads across her cheeks and I laugh. I grab her hand and pull her close to me. My lips crash over hers.

I want to spoil this woman every damn day, but in order to do that, she needs to come back to me after checking into Club Lust tonight.

I break off the kiss. “Go before I fuck you again, Mckenna.”

“I wouldn’t want to ruin your plans, Sir.”

“Good girl.” I sit on the edge of the bed and enjoy the view of her back as she walks away from me.

My phone buzzes on the nightstand, and I snap it up.

“Hello?”

“Got an update. I’m ninety percent sure it’s Davis Moran,” the voice of my investigator greets me.

“Why aren’t you a hundred percent sure?”

“He seems to have a bodyguard nearby, and our cameras haven’t picked up a clear face shot.”

“Keep on him, but I want total confirmation before we make a move.”

“Yes, Sir.”

I hang up with Mick and brush my hand through my hair. Finding Davis Moran is a nice cherry on top, but even if I can’t get the man back in the States, I can make sure his daughter is mine.

She’ll be taken care of and looked after. Mckenna won’t lack for a single thing, and I’ll make sure her mother is taken care of, too.

Whistling, I make my way to the other bathroom.

The warm spray feels good on my back, and I close my eyes. A memory of Mckenna’s parents dancing at some fundraiser event floats through my mind. No matter what you can say about them—and a lot has been said, like that Mckenna’s mom is power-hungry and a social climber–that’s so laughable if you’ve ever met Liz Moran—the love between them is hard to ignore.

In that memory, right beside Mckenna’s parents, is my gorgeous mother, touching Davis’s arm. He smiled at her and walked back to the table as my dad took Mckenna’s mom for a dance, laughing together. The four of them were friends. Many people tried to be part of the exclusive club they formed, and all failed.

They were people that just fit together.

I am enraged that Mckenna’s father could risk this lifelong friendship and get together with the mob.

I had never let myself daydream about a different life. I’ve put my nose to the grindstone this past year and done what was expected of me, but being with Mckenna makes me feel like I can dream about a different way of living.

As long as I have her by my side, anything is possible.

I quickly dress in a pair of khakis and a button-down shirt.

“You look very respectable.”

Mckenna stands in the doorway, her lengthy hair curled down her shoulder.

She is wearing a light pink sundress that hits her knee, with a black cardigan.

“Turn for me, hellion.”

She takes a step in and then gives me a twirl.
