“In the forest, Talius, when they were doing... what they did...” he breathed softly, short stuttering puffs that told a tale of such emotional pain, it hurt to listen. “All I could think about was you and Irian. That was the thing that got me though it. I thought about you and not what was happening.”

“Then join us,” I brushed a trembling finger through his hair. I wanted so much for him to choose us. “Be a part of this.”

“I don’t know how that works, or even why you would want me, but yes, I’d like that. Very much” he said finally, turning moist, reddened eyes towards me.

I don’t think he’d realized how close I was. When he turned, his lips were so close to mine, I felt the sharp intake of his breath, felt the warmth of his cheek. I lowered my lips to bridge the small distance to his soft, plump lips. They quivered beneath mine but responded to my kiss. And when my tongue gently probed, asking for entry, he yielded his mouth to me beautifully. His whole body trembled.

The gentle exploratory kiss grew heated. I devoured his mouth, hungrily. I was frustrated with weeks of wanting him, followed by the recent terror of almost losing him. I tried to show him how much I needed him. He responded, kissing me back, lush lips pressing against mine, his tongue tangling urgently with mine, his breathing hard and erratic. It was as if a lifetime of longing for someone to love him was suddenly released. I hoped it was more than just his omega responding to my alpha. I needed there to be genuine affection between us as well.

Then the kiss changed. It was subtle. One minute he was kissing me as if his life depended on it, and the next… he wasn't resisting, but his lips stopped moving against my lips, his tongue stopped searching for mine.

I drew away immediately.

“What is it, Isca?”

He looked upset. It pained me to see that. He’d been hurt too much already. Did he not want this after all? Was he having second thoughts? Had I gotten carried away?

“Irian?” he whimpered, and suddenly I understood. He didn’t know Irian and I had already discussed this possible future for all of us. He couldn’t know that - he’d been unconscious at the time. He was worried he was betraying his friend.

I gave him a little nudge in the direction of Irian, still lying on his other side but now wide awake, and watching us with bright, interested eyes. Irian reached across and ran his fingers across Isca’s scalp, smiling at him. Isca gave a half smile, still uncertain. Then Irian rolled across and wrapped Isca in his arms, holding him close. Soft pink lips met soft pink lips.

“I’m 100% on board with this,” Irian assured him, pulling away to look into his eyes. He kissed him again, another soft, gentle kiss, and from the dreamy look in my beautiful mate’s eyes I could see how much he already loved the other omega.

Isca's smiled widened and reached his eyes. Reaching up, he took Irian’s face in his hands and pulled him down for another kiss.

Then, releasing him, he turned to me, a shy smile on his face. I swooped down and hungrily took his lips with mine, possessing his mouth in a way that should have left no doubt that this was where he belonged.

???

We stayed in bed, cuddling and resting. Happy to be together and in our safe bubble isolated from the world. Eventually, Irian got up and made some breakfast for us all, which we ate in bed.

Afterwards, we helped Isca out of bed. He was weak after his injuries and long recovery, and Irian helped him shower while I cleaned up after breakfast.

Just the process of showering exhausted Isca and he needed to rest again. Irian climbed back into bed beside him and the two lay in each other’s arms.

My lips curled upwards at the sight. They looked beautiful together, and they were both mine.

I sighed. I had neglected my leadership duties long enough. Though I would have much rather joined them in the bed, I needed to check on the farm and the rest of the pack.

Chapter 12

TALIUS

I was lucky I had such a good second-in-charge in Johnson. The beta was soft-spoken, but he knew what needed to be done around the farm and he was good at organizing the rest of the pack. I was surprised to find it had been a whole week since I’d had anything to do with the farm. Isca had taken my full focus and attention, and I hadn’t realized how much time had elapsed.

Now Johnson and I sat in the office and he brought me up to date. There were the usual things, like broken equipment, late deliveries, and we were running short of hay for the cattle, but everything was under control.

“You’ve done a great job, Johnson,” I praised him. “I don’t know how I would have managed without you.”

“No problem, Talius, what’s important is the little omega is fine. He’s a nice young man.”

“Yeah, he is. And he’s had a pretty shitty life up until now, and we’re going to do something about that.” I paused, before continuing. “He’s joining our pack.”

Johnson didn’t look at all surprised. “Kind of figured he might,” he said with a wry smile. Then he went on, “While you were busy looking after him, I increased the boundary patrols. I haven’t heard where his old pack has gone, they seem to have just up and left. But they’re an unruly bunch and it wouldn’t surprise me if they cause trouble.”

“Increase security around the omega house too, if you haven’t already. Zarbius might not have realized where his mate was while he was unconscious, but now he’s awake, he might.”

“Sure thing.”
