When I graze my teeth over her swollen nub, she shudders and lets out a breathy cry of my name as she climaxes, just as I desired in my dirtiest dreams about her.

I move up, breathless and satisfied, and gently brush a strand of hair from her face, kissing her forehead softly.

“You… you won't… do that?” she tries to ask, referring to the final act of consummating our marriage.

I pull her close to my chest and kiss her forehead again.

“If I claim you as mine tonight, I wouldn't be able to let you go back to India, ever, Maahi,” I confess. “And I know that's not something you would want. So, for now, it's just this. The day we end our long-distance marriage, you’ll be mine in every sense. I promise.”

She strokes my chest shyly before snuggling closer and resting her head on my chest.

“But until then, I'm going to pleasure your sexy body with my mouth and fingers,” I add, before dipping my finger into her warmth. She arches at the sudden intrusion, but as I drape her leg over my waist and plunge two more fingers inside her, the haze of lust fills us again and she rides my fingers like a pro.

MAAHI

Next Morning

Is making out with your partner always like this? So sexy and heart-pounding, yet fulfilling? If yes, then I've been missing out on a lot over all these years. And now that Vikram has bridged the gap between us by showing me what I've been missing, we are unstoppable. Last night, Vikram brought me to the edge with his experienced mouth and fingers that I literally lost count, until exhaustion pulled me into sleep. We slept in each other's arms, and it was the best sleep I've had so far. I never thought that Vikram, who had always been the subject of my worry and frustration, would bring peace and calm into my near future. We didn't consummate our marriage, but we are both going to make enough efforts to end this long-distance relationship between us and make that happen soon.

Quickly kissing his forehead, I slip out of his arms and head straight to the shower and then to the kitchen to cook breakfast for Daadi and Vikram. I know he loves my pancakes, so I decide to make those for him.

“Good morning, Jack,” I greet my assistant chef and butler, who has been enthusiastically helping me cook breakfast.

“Morning, Ma’am. What’s the special dish I’m learning today?”

I laugh. “Poha. It’s a light morning breakfast made from flattened rice flakes, steam-cooked with onions, spices, and other herbs.”

He looks interested. For the past three days, whatever I cooked for breakfast, he noted down the recipe and was eager to try it on his own in the future. We start preparing, and in thirty minutes, the Poha is ready and so are the pancakes for Vikram.

Meera aunty storms into the kitchen. “Jack, can you please leave us alone?”

We both glare at each other as Jack makes his way out.

“I’m sure Vikram must have told you what we spoke about last night.”

“He has,” I nod. I’m glad he did, or else Meera aunty would have thought everything isn’t well between us.

“Great. Then I don’t have to reiterate it all again. Look, Maahi. I understand that Vikram has special feelings for you and thinks you are slowly giving this marriage a chance, which I appreciate. But that doesn’t mean he can ruin his other personal and professional ties.”

She steps closer. “Vikram and his father have given their lives to build the Grover Empire. He cannot jeopardize it for such a petty reason. Please talk to him.”

Ahh! She needs my help? Well. I take off my apron and cross my arms at front. “How much do you trust your husband and son?” I ask, and she looks confused.

“Of course, I trust them enough, even before you were in our lives.”

Her reply makes me laugh.

“Saying you trust them and showing your trust during difficult times like these are two different things, Mom-in-law. If you trust Vikram and your husband, then you should know by now that they don’t need anyone’s support to expand their business empire. They can handle it all without the support of the Patels.”

I don’t think she’s convinced. “The Patels are closely tied with us. If we break that bond, we might face consequences.” Is she reminding me that or threatening me?

“If your families are so close, they wouldn’t let Vikram and Sabrina’s loss of friendship affect your trust in each other. And none of this is Vikram’s fault. Sabrina needs to understand she is crossing the line.”

Meera aunty is tongue-tied.

“Since you consider Sabrina as your daughter, I think it’s high time you talk to her and make her understand where she’s going wrong,” I add.

“Don’t advise me on what I should do. I’m here to bridge the gap Vikram is creating between us and the Patels.”
