Page 23 of Her Forever Daddies

“The baby monitor has a camera so we’ll be able to see if she’s awake even if she isn’t making any noise,” Jace reassured him.

Zane nodded and stood, following him out of the bedroom. The club didn’t open for several hours so she would have plenty of time to nap before anyone else showed up. Jace sat down at his desk and leaned back in the chair. His cock was finally starting to soften, but he had a feeling he would need to take a shower in the near future to release his pent up arousal.

Setting the baby monitor on his desk so he could see the screen, Jace looked over at his friend, trying to read what was on his mind. Unfortunately, Zane was a hard man to read most of the time.

“She needs us,” Zane muttered.

Nodding his head, Jace let out a sigh of relief that they both seemed to be on the same page.

“We know nothing about her,” Zane added.

“So, we take the time to get to know each other. Ease her into having two Daddies while we learn about her. There’s something in her eyes. Something sad and lonely. Maybe even a little lost.”

“I noticed that, too. But you know I’m not someone who can be half in and half out. Slow isn’t exactly my style,” Zane replied.

Yeah. There was nothing subtle about Zane.

“You’ll have to figure out how to move slow. I’m not saying we will be half in, but we can’t just move her in with us and run her life from the get-go. We have no idea what her needs or wants are yet.”

His friend grunted. “What she needs is a red butt and a list of rules.”

Yeah. So much for slow.

After two hours of watching her sleep on the baby monitor, Jace was getting worried. They didn’t want to wake her up because of how wiped out she’d seemed, but he wasn’t sure it was good that she was sleeping for so long. Maybe they should have a doctor check her out.

Zane was just as anxious. After the first hour, he had started pacing the office, and then started going to the bedroom every ten minutes to make sure she was still breathing. The poor woman didn’t stand a chance with them.

“We need to wake her up. Otherwise, she’ll never go down for bed tonight,” Zane said.

Jace waggled his eyebrows. “We’ll just have to tire her out again.”

He was awarded a smile from Zane, but his expression quickly changed back to concerned and before he knew it, they were both heading toward the bedroom to wake her up.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Jace stared down at her for a long moment, feeling a warmth inside of him that he couldn’t ever remember feeling. She still had the kangaroo clutched to her chest and the pacifier he’d given her was still in her mouth. Her face was relaxed, and she looked more peaceful than he’d ever seen her.

Reaching out, he stroked her arm while Zane sat on the other side of the bed and stroked her hair.

“Baby girl, it’s time to wake up,” he said softly.

Her eyes fluttered open and closed for several seconds before she looked up at him and then back at Zane and smiled. Reaching up, she pulled the pacifier from her mouth and studied it before setting it beside her on the mattress.

“I didn’t know if you wanted it or not, but I remembered seeing one attached to you the other night,” Jace explained.

Ruby looked down to the stuffie she was holding and examined it and then muttered something under her breath.

“What was that?” Zane asked.

“Hop. Her name is Hop,” she said in a small voice.

He couldn’t help but grin. She was in Little Space. He wondered if she usually woke up in that headspace or if it was because they were there coddling her.

“Hop is a good name for a kangaroo. Especially since they go hop, hop, hop,” Jace said, tapping his finger on her nose with each hop.

She giggled and ducked her head away from his finger, hiding from him behind her stuffie.

“Uh oh, where’d Ruby go? Zaddy, where’s Ruby?” Jace asked.

Zane scowled at him, but his question made Ruby giggle even more, so the scowl quickly turned into a smile.
