“Yes, you do, to keep her safe. What you did today put her at risk.”

“I can’t live my life hiding from Finn. He hasn’t hurt her before I don’t see why he would now,” I reason.

“Because now you’re with me and he hates me.”

I groan aloud, we’re going around in circles. “I need my own money.”

“I’ll give you money,” he offers.

“I want my own money, from a job. I need to take care of Harlee myself. It’s not that I don’t appreciate you helping me, but Finn did that once and then he left, and I didn’t have a clue how to pay bills. I’ve spent a long time making myself independent.”

His expression softens. “Fine, I’ll give you a job at the club, cleaning, cooking, whatever you want to do.”

“No, that’s not what I meant.”

He growls in frustration. “Look, you want a job and I need help around the club. Take the job so we can move forward. I can keep you safe at the club, I can’t keep you safe if you stay here.”

I close the laptop. “I thought we were over, you were so mad earlier.”

Ryder takes my chin in his fingers, forcing me to look at him. “I told you that I’m not going anywhere. Whatever happens I’m here to stay. What do I need to do to prove that?” I shrug helplessly. Ryder could have his pick of women, the club girls are always around him hoping to get noticed. Why the hell would he want me when I come with all this baggage. He kisses me on the lips. “I don’t know what else to do, baby. I’m yours, you’re mine, that’s it. No one else can come close. I’m only interested in you.”

“Why?” I ask.

He frowns, “Why do I want you?” I nod. He smiles, “you’re amazing, Neve. Everything about you is from the tip of your nose,” he kisses me there, “To the tips of your toes. I don’t see past you, Neve. You’re it for me.”

“What happened last night?” I ask, breaking the eye contact.

He sighs, “I spent time catching up with Sassy. Before all the shit, we were good together, friends. We lost that after what I did. So we talked over a bottle of whiskey, and I should have considered how that’d make you feel, I’m sorry for that. But I’m new to this too, I’m still learning. And I’ll fuck up a lot, just like you will, but it doesn’t mean that every time we argue, we’re splitting up. I want your profile off that dating site now and tomorrow, we’ll make us official the way of the club.”

“Official?” I repeat. It’s not the first time he’d mentioned it but I didn’t have a clue what he meant.

He grins. “It means parties, tattoos and a whole lot of biker love. I should have made it a priority but shits been crazy. After we’re official, you’ll see how serious I am about us.”

Chapter Fifteen

Ryder

Neve reaches for the pillow and buries her face into it, groaning as I ram into her at a punishing rate. We’ve spent most of the night like this, wrapped up in one another, and still it’s not enough. Arguing with her puts me on edge, I hate the thought of her being upset because of me so maybe this urge is to prove to us both, that we’re good together.

I come, growling as the tension leaves me. If I haven’t put a baby in her belly by the end of the week, I’ll be shocked. I fall beside her and she rolls into my side placing her hand on my clammy chest. “You didn’t use protection again,” she whispers sleepily.

“Your point?” I ask, grinning.

“I’ll get the morning after pill and enquire about getting the pill or something.”

I take her hand in mine, entwining our fingers. “That won’t be needed.”

“Don’t you think it’s a little soon to be having a baby?” she asks, laughing.

“Nope, I keep telling you that I’m yours and you’re mine, what part of that don’t you get?”

“We had our first major argument today, Ryder. We practically spilt up.”

“We definitely didn’t split up, I just let you cool down for a few hours.”

“Still, it’s a huge commitment.”

“Don’t you want more kids?” I ask.
