I never wanted my life to be centred around anyone but myself, but it’s too late. My whole life is about her, when I can see her, when I can touch her. I find myself counting down the seconds until I can hold her again, smell her hair and feel her breath against my lips before I kiss her. I just can’t get enough. Hearing her agree to give me a chance set off fireworks in my chest, I’m so glad I was finally able to crack her. Not in the way I had originally intended, getting her into bed isn’t even a concern of mine anymore, I just want to be around her all the time.
We arrive at the restaurant just before 7pm, it’s a miracle Callie was able to get ready quick enough after we spent at least ten minutes just sucking each other’s faces off outside the locker room. We’re seated at our table quickly and I step behind Callie to pull her chair out, earning myself an eye roll. I shake my head and guide her into the seat with a smile, that she certainly doesn’t return. She’s scowling at me when I sit in my own chair opposite her, her arms folded and lips pursed.
Fuck, she turns me on.
When the waiter approaches our table seconds later it’s like a switch is flipped inside of Callie and a bright smile softens her features. I want that smile for myself, I don’t like her looking at this waiter guy with a smile like that. Is this what real jealousy feels like?
I reach across the table as Callie orders her drink and grab her hand from where it rests in front of her. I enclose her small hand inside my own large one and I watch as her eyes flicker to mine for a moment. I grip her hand tightly, waiting for her to pull away but she doesn’t. The waiter takes my order too and leaves us alone whilst he collects our drinks from the bar. “What was that all about? You’re turning green.” She teases, but I can tell she likes that I'm jealous, she’s enjoying this, a little too much for my liking.
I lean back, letting go of her hand. “Don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Our food is incredible, the two of us eating like we’ve not had a bite for two weeks. The food might be excellent but it sure doesn’t satisfy the hunger I have for the fiery brunette sitting opposite me.
Slow Sean, she said we need to take things slow.
The conversation is light between us for the most part, both of us talking about our families and when the conversation moves over to Callie’s dad I see her eyes darken a little and her shoulders tense.
“My dad’s a hard man, as I’m sure you know.” She says, fiddling with her fingers. “He’s always been hard on me, I feel like I need to be talented at what I do to earn his love and attention.”
My heart shatters instantly when her face crumples. “Baby don’t say that, I'm sure that’s not true.” I reach for her hand again and she lets me take it. She smirks. “Don’t call me that.” Then she drops her hand from mine and leans back against her chair. “I don’t even know why I’m telling you all of this deep shit.”
“Because you know I listen to you.” I say, sipping at the last few drops of my coke.
She barks a sarcastic laugh. “Yeah, when you want something.” Ouch.
“That’s not fair, I’ve made it clear that I'm interested in more than just your pussy haven’t I?”
She nods and purses her lips again. “Uh huh, you know how to talk the talk, that’s for sure.”
“You’re still not convinced?” I tip my head towards her and she smiles. “I’ll show you soon enough. Just wait until I give you the best fuck of your life, let you sleepover at my house and then make you breakfast in the morning.”
She gleams at me, then lets her face drop to hide it. God, I'm obsessed with every little bit of her.
The waiter drops the bill onto our table after a while and I watch in disbelief as Callie reaches into her bag and takes her purse out. It’s my turn to scoff today. “What the hell do you think you’re doing with that thing?”
“I’m paying for my own food.” She warns and I sit up straighter. “Like hell you are!” I grab the receipt off the table and stand up, leaving Callie seething as I walk up to the bar to pay for our food. She’s fucking crazy if she thinks I'm letting her pay, I'm trying my damn hardest to prove myself to her here.
When I turn back to our table she's gone, and I can’t help but laugh to think she’s throwing a strop outside because I wouldn’t let her pay for her own food. When I exit through the huge glass doors I see her, leaning back against the wall, her face like thunder.
She sees me and flashes me an eye roll. “You’re not the boss of me Sean.” “I know,” I laugh, laying my palms on her waist. “but I am a gentleman, and there’s no fucking way I’m asking you out on a date to let you pay for your own food.”
She grumbles something I don’t understand and swats my hand away when I try to lace my fingers through her’s. She starts towards my car and I follow behind her, watching her curvy ass sway as she moves, looking like a wet dream.
“Excuse me…” A quiet voice says from behind me and I turn around, tearing my eyes off Callie’s ass. There’s a girl around my age, shuffling her feet uncomfortably and looking me up and down.
“Sorry to bother you but I just wanted to say I love watching you play hockey, you’re amazing on the ice.” She smiles, looking like a mouse with her timid eyes and tiny features.
“Oh, yeah thanks that’s really nice of you.” I say, checking over my shoulder and not being able to see where the fuck Callie has gone. The girl clears her throat as my own starts to close up, where the fuck did she go?
“Could I maybe have your number?” She says, watching as my eyes float around the car park looking for Callie.
“Are you kidding? I’m right here.” Callie’s cold voice comes from my side and I turn to see her possessively nestling herself into the side of my chest. The girl freezes and looks like she’s being burnt alive by Callie’s stare. “Oh sorry, are you his girlfriend?”
Callie huffs. “Well, n—”
“Yes, she is.” I interject, cutting of Callie’s denial of our relationship. I know she said she’s not my girlfriend — yet — but this stranger doesn’t need to know that.
The girl gasps quietly and steps back. “Oh sorry I had no idea. I’ll just go then, it was nice to meet you.”
