“Happy?” I asked the woman who was my chosen sister.
She rested her head atop mine. “I never thought I could feel so… at peace. I never thought I’d get to stop fighting and stop hiding. I’m so happy that the word happy doesn’t describe the feeling. Does that make sense?”
My gaze drifted to Devereaux. The teams were switching, and whether he felt my eyes on him, or was simply looking for me too, my berserker’s cool gray gaze found me next to the bleachers.
The quirk of his brow spoke of bedroom promises. His easy smile and watchful eyes spoke of the kind of man he was.
Devereaux Vincori was all mine. Daily, that was the hardest thing to believe of all. “That makes total sense to me.”
