“What if Avery does leave?” Psycho asks. “I agree with Lex. I couldn’t blame her.”
The thought hasn’t left his mind for long since Lex mentioned it, and Jennings knows he can’t argue. “I couldn’t either. And I think if it does happen, my son will leave, too.”
“How did we let it get this bad?” VP asks. “To have women wanting to change their identities and taking off because it’s the only option they see to keep themselves safe?”
“We’re fixing it. We’re fixing it tonight,” Jennings says.
The door opens, and Gunner sticks his head inside. “Sorry to interrupt, but Undertaker will be here in two hours.”
“Really? That fast?” Fox asks.
“I guess so.”
“What’s his real name?” Jennings asks.
Chuckling, Gunner shrugs. “No idea.”
“What’d his dog tags say?”
“Undertaker. I don’t know how he pulled that off, and I have no idea what his real fucking name is. Never have, and I probably never will.”
Chapter Twenty-Eight
Griffin’s Beach
Psycho
Only a handful of Black Valley men are back at the clubhouse with the women on lockdown, and they’re standing by for the phone call to talk about all this shit. In a matter of an hour, shit spun so far from their original plan to meet and discuss.
Psycho walks out of the Chapel with the others behind him to grab a drink before they all meet to decide on the plan together. To talk about everything and more.
“Where’s Colt?” TK asks.
“Where do you think?” Rocco asks. “Probably up his wife’s ass.”
Psycho’s eyebrows lift. There seems to be some animosity between Rocco and Lex again, but he suspects it’s more about Autumn than anything else.
“Jesus Christ, those two are gonna have another kid soon, I swear it. They go at it like bunnies,” TK says and grabs a beer. “Not that I’m complaining. I’m happy they’ve fixed things between them.”
Psycho wonders if anyone else knows about her miscarriage or not, but he doesn’t want to bring it up in case it hasn’t been made public knowledge. Instead, he spots Ky sitting alone, staring at the beer in his hand. “Hey.”
“Hey.”
“What’s up?”
“Nothing.”
Psycho takes a seat and leans back. “Why are you looking at that bottle like it’s going to tell you a fortune?”
“Shit’s just all screwed up,” he admits. “Felicity’s acting weird, and she and Lex have some kind of beef. I feel like they had a fight or something, but she won’t tell me. She keeps saying it’s nothing, but I know it’s more than nothing.”
So, Felicity is one of the women wanting to jump ship. She’s not one Psycho would have pegged as willing to bolt, and she’s been here longer than most. Who knows what’s festered.
Colt and Lex walk out into the main room, and she attempts to tame her wild hair, but everyone knows what they were doing. And only Zane seems to feel any type of way about it.
He has no idea what his sister does for him. Fucker.
“Hey, Lex, are you sticking around here while we’re in Church?” Jennings asks.
