Looking in the mirror, she sees her nipples harden through the fabric as she thinks of the things Kade will do to her when she tells him she's making an amendment to the terms of their arrangement. He hasn't given her the release she craves again, and she can't blame him if he's not willing to let her do the same. He looked to be in so much pain, but his conviction made her heart so happy. Knowing what this little number does to him, she can't help but smile at the fact he'll explode like the Fourth of July.

She needs to do something to tell him she's serious about this decision, and she takes out a tube of lipstick. Placing it on her chest, she does her best to write KADE'S GF while remembering it's backwards in the mirror. It's not pretty, but it'll do what she needs it to do.

Understanding she can't answer the door in this, she grabs her robe and covers herself. It'll make a great reveal when she tells him the change in their relationship, too. The thought of flashing him the moment he steps inside makes her giddy with suspense, and she loves the image she has of him with his eyes bugging out of his head. No one has ever made her feel as sexy as Kade.

"Please don't break my heart, Kade," she murmurs and ties the robe shut, making sure the lipstick can't be seen. "I don't think I can get over it if you do it again."

Bouncing down the stairs, she checks to make sure everything still stayed closed as she feels giddy with excitement. The knock on the front door makes her feel like she just took the plunge on a rollercoaster, and she bounces to the door to answer it.

Smiling, she swings it open and stands in shock.

"Hi, Jess."

"Landry? What are you doing here?" Jess asks, her hand pulling the robe tightly around her neck to make sure nothing peeks out.

She hasn't seen or spoken to this man since he confessed what happened with that poor girl. And she certainly hadn't expected to see him standing on her doorstep the night she made the decision to fully commit to Kade.

"Can I come inside? We need to talk."

Chapter Twenty-Nine

Kade pulls into Jess's driveway and parks next to Landry's SUV. What the hell?

Jumping out, he simultaneously unties the knots from his stomach and sprints to the front door, opening it to find Landry standing in the entryway while Jess stands in her robe, holding it closed at the top. She looks shocked, and Kade knows instantly she had no idea Landry planned to be here.

"This isn't a good time, Landry," Jess says as Landry whips around and sees Kade stepping into the house.

Side-stepping him, Kade walks into the living room, and Jess follows suit as though they stand together and want the intruding visitor out.

Landry sneers at him. "I suppose interrupting your night would be payback for the night you did it to us and completely blew up our relationship."

"You blew up your relationship," Kade says, his body on high alert. Remembering how Jess flinched in the pickup when she asked him questions about Sam makes Kade less confident this man isn't the type to lash out at a woman than Jess is. "She said it's not a good time, so why don't you just leave?"

Jess turns to Kade, her eyes wide. "I didn't invite him."

"I know," Kade says and kisses her temple.

"Since you came in here professing your feelings for her the night I was invited over, I guess now's as good of time as any," Landry says and looks at Jess. "I was wrong. I should have fought for you instead of giving you space."

Her eyebrows lift, causing the crease on her forehead Kade loves to appear. "I don't think you fully understood the reasons we're not dating anymore."

"I do. And if I would've fought for you instead of just gotten angry, it would be me here tonight, about to climb into bed with you, instead of him."

The way he says it and glances at Kade makes Kade's skin crawl. This is a game to him. "Screw you, Landry."

Jess seems to notice, too, and she shakes her head. "It's still about getting into my pants, isn't it?"

"Jess, you're missing the point."

"No, I think you are. The fact you gave me space and didn't fight pales in comparison to the real reason we ended things. One of those things being that poor girl you used in an attempt to hurt me. What about her?"

"Admittedly, that wasn't one of my finer moments."

She tilts her head. "How's Holly, Landry?"

"She didn't handle everything like I'd hoped. She was up for it being a game, but it turns out, taking her home changed the rules. She wanted more, but she just isn't what I’m looking for."

"You've been sleeping with her for a little while now, haven't you?"
