“It’s getting late,” Viktor says.

“Okay.”

“I should probably get going. You must be tired.”

“I wonder why,” I quip and turn to look at him.

“Are you accusing me of something?” he asks with his smirk in full display.

“Maybe.”

He pulls me to him and kisses me.

“Didn’t you have enough?” I quip.

“I could never have enough of you, but I should probably go. You should rest.” He’s about to get out of bed.

“Don’t.” He looks at me suspiciously. “I want you to stay,” I confess.

“Are you sure?”

“Don’t make me change my mind,” I say with a smile.

“You don’t have to ask twice.”

“Just go to sleep. You’re on baby duty tonight,” I proclaim with a laugh.

“Come here.” He tightens his grip. “I love you, Ava.”

“I love you, Viktor.”

I open my eyes and turn to see Viktor watching me sleep.

“What are you doing? How long have you been up?”

“Not long,” he says, but he’s fully dressed.

“What time is it?” I sit up in a panic.

“It’s seven. They’re both sleeping,” he says, answering my unspoken question.

“Are you going to work?”

“I am, but I want to show you something.” His smile reaches his eyes.

“What are you up to?” I look quizzically at him.

“I want to show you something,” he repeats, smiling.

“Okay.” I grab a robe and follow him to the living room.

“Have a seat.” His smile seems plastered in place.

“Are you going to tell me what has you smiling?”

“Sit,” he requests again, so I do. He hands me a file.

“What is it?”
