“No, the fuck you’re not. What’s wrong with you? She’s a guest,” Chrome shouts back.

“She put her hands on me,” Trigger growls.

“After you put your hands on me. You touched my ass, and you were going for my boobs,” I reply calmly.

Babe stands next to me and shoots Trigger a glare that matches mine.

“She’s a bitch in our clubhouse. She’s not wearing a kutte. So she’s fair game,” Trigger continues to argue.

“She’s a guest,” Chrome repeats. “Not only that, but she’s family. Ghost’s her cousin and she works in one of our businesses. She’s off-limits. Got it?”

Trigger glares at me before nodding. “Got it.”

“Oh, and Trigger, if I ever see you raise a fist to woman again, I’ll take your kutte,” Chrome snarls. “Or maybe I’ll just let Min kick your ass.”

The rest of the guys burst out laughing, which has Trigger reddening in anger. The glare he sends me promises retribution. I want to tell him to bring it on, but I refrain. Instead, I glance at Chrome and Babe. “I’m sorry if I overstepped, but I didn’t want him touching me.”

“You don’t have to apologize. He was being an ass,” Chrome assures me.

“Maybe we should move to a hotel,” Babe says, studying my face. “Although I’m certain none of the other guys will touch you now.”

“Not if they don’t want their asses kicked,” Bush chuckles. “Damn woman, I may need you to show me that move.”

“You and Ghost share some serious skills,” Chrome says. “I’m guessing your daddy taught you both?”

I nod. “He did. They’re skills I teach others now. Every woman should know how to defend herself. There are too many assholes out there.”

“Speaking of assholes. Mode said you got a call from a detective who wants to meet with you and Babe?”

I tell them about watching Schwartz and his team search the church and what Mode witnessed prior to the cops showing up.

“When I found Krista, I should have searched the other rooms,” I say. The bitterness churning in my stomach.

“None of us considered it,” Babe tells, squeezing my shoulder.

“We’ll find them,” Mode assures me. “I won’t stop looking for them.”

CHAPTER FIFTEEN: BABE

“We have a lawyer on retainer. I can have him meet us there,” Chrome offers.

“Us?” I ask him.

“I’m coming with you. I’m pissed as hell that this bullshit is going on in my backyard. Fuck, just feet away from our garage. If the cops think they’re going to hammer you for helping those women escape, then I’ll be there to help fight them.”

“They haven’t said that they suspect me of committing a crime,” Min reminds us. “They asked for both of us to be there. My guess is that they ran my identification and discovered I’m a bounty hunter with ties to the Demon Dawgs. That may be all there is to this meeting. To find out why we’re in town.”

“They may also want to know if we know more about the women you rescued than you originally claimed,” I tell her. She nods in agreement.

“Let’s go so we can find out. Maybe they’ll give us some answers,” Chrome adds.

Several cops stop and stare at us when we park and dismount. They’re likely not used to seeing bikers going into a police station voluntarily. Once inside, Chrome glances around.

“The lawyer’s not here yet. Do you want to wait?”

“No, let’s get this started. If we run into trouble and need him, we can ask for him then,” I say.

Min nods and leads the way to the sergeant sitting behind the counter. I glance back to see Chrome taking a seat nearest the door. He either wants to make it easy for the lawyer to find him, or more likely, for a quick escape. None of us like cop shops.
