An image of a book she had at home sprung to her mind, one with a cover that had a bright green tree python wrapped around a red apple, poised, ready to bite.
His eyes are as vivid and green as that snake, she thought to herself.
With his chiselled cheeks, pink lips, broad shoulders, and his mysterious with a touch of danger aura, it all added up to the complete package of a drop-dead gorgeous man. Who was he? Why had she never seen him around before? And why was every cell within her screaming bright red danger alerts?
Kyla licked her lips and tried not to let her mind wander as to what exactly was underneath that tight black t-shirt. The definition of his pecs couldn’t be missed—the guy didn’t have an ounce of fat on him. If there was one thing Kyla loved, it was a guy with a proper six pack and pecs. The desire pooling between her legs as she thought of the last chiselled body she’d licked every inch of almost distracted her completely from the current situation.
“Are you going to pay for that?” he asked, flicking his gaze behind her for the briefest of seconds.
The deep, raw husk to his voice only heightened the craving gathering between her thighs. She’d had some guys affect her in some ways but never like this, never from sight alone and one mere sentence. This guy screamed macho male and Kyla’s body seemed to be begging for his attention.
Excitement clashed together with confusion deep inside her. This was new territory for her and she wouldn’t explore it until she was sure where she was going. Keeping her cool around the opposite sex and always being two steps in front was Kyla’s forte. But this guy, this guy was a whole other level.
You’ve met your match, she thought to herself, before then pushing the intrusive words away.
Ignoring her intensifying feeling of being vulnerable, Kyla carried on in her usual bullish way. “I’m sorry,” she said, frowning. “What?”
“The damage you did to our garden.”
Just look down, just a few inches. See what he’s packing...
Kyla had to fight to keep her eyes from straying down to his groin. The curiosity to see what bulge, or lack of, was down there almost became too great. If it were to match his body and arrogant air of confidence, it would be enough to split a woman in half. But, there was no way he had the whole package. There was always a compromise with a guy and if he had the whole package thus far, chances were he’d have a micro-penis for sure.
Ignoring her need to look down there, Kyla snorted in disbelief. “I know what you’re talking about. I meant could you please repeat the question because I swear I heard you say you expected me to pay for some antique tree being used for firewood.”
A gleeful chuckle sounded from the other guy, who still stood in the shadows. The golden-haired man in front of her glared at her, his green eyes swirling with displeasure. He shifted from foot to foot as he folded his arms over his chest.
“Who are you anyway?” Kyla asked. “No one has been in that place for years.”
The other guy took his opportunity to step forwards. “Ah, come on. You remember us. We’re the nephews. I’m Ben and this is Adam. We’ve just got back and decided to see what sort of restoration Uncle Henry’s place needed.”
Ben was almost the mirror of Adam. Maybe an inch taller and a little stockier, but just as much of a hunk. Except he owned the whole tall, dark, handsome man thing with his raven black hair and eyes as dark as coco.
Kyla’s mouth dropped open. “No way. No way is that you guys.” A quick thought sprung to mind and she decided to test if they remembered how long it had been since they last saw each other. “You were definitely not this fit the last time I saw you.”
“And when would that have been?” Ben said, smiling in amusement. “When we left college over ten years ago?”
Kyla laughed. Her test had been passed. “I’ve heard of people growing into their bodies, but jeeze, you two. What the hell have you been doing whilst you’ve been away?”
“It’s a secret,” Ben replied. His dark eyes glistened in such a way, it seemed as if the colour in his eyes swirled like melting chocolate, inviting her in further, deeper, to drown her in their depths.
Kyla shook her head slightly, refusing to believe she’d just almost been hypnotised by his eyes. What is going on with these two? Her heart started racing and her palms became sweaty as she realised she was alone in the dark with two gorgeous men. She needed to get out of here, fast, before she did something really bad. Even if it was the good kind of bad.
Seeing that they were both stood by her car and her way out was no longer blocked, Kyla regained her equilibrium and threw them both a triumphant grin. “I am now going home seeing as you two have finally decided you don’t want to be run over tonight.”
Patting her car door, she hopped back in, slammed it shut and put her foot on the accelerator before either of them had any cute ideas about blocking her way again.
Grinning like a Cheshire cat as she sped out of there, she dialled the number for her best friend, Sam.
“Oh my God,” she said, as soon as Sam answered. “You are not going to believe who I just saw.”
