“Do you want to go inside, Esme?” Denzel said to her. She nodded with a smile, and my mate moved toward the entrance of the building.

“Marion. Can we have a word?” I heard from Agatha and turned toward her voice. I knew a time like this would come, and I had no choice but to come clean with her and apologize for what I did. She was the only witch in the pack I had manipulated her memories and figured since she was the coven leader; I didn't need anyone else's support once she had my story straight. I took a walk with her, and we came to a halt a few feet away from the fountain. She crossed her arms in front of me with a sneer on her face. “What the fuck were you thinking?”

“I’m sorry for what I did to you. No one deserves to have their mind toyed with, and I won't try to justify my actions.”

“Did you do the same with Frey? You put Denzel in danger. God knows how much you hurt him.”

“No, I didn't. My intentions were never to hurt Denzel. I kept him alive.”

“One mistake and you would have ruined everything.” She stated, clearly annoyed at me. Right now, I didn't know if it was because of what I did or something else. I was right. It was something. There was a look of worry on her face, and it instantly clicked. She cared about him.

“Yes, he would have died, but he's alive, and that's all that matters.”

“Just be careful with what you do with all that magic.”

“I have no intentions of hurting anyone with my powers. I might have in the past, but not anymore. Agatha, I'm deeply sorry for what happened. Six months ago, you let me into your home, and I paid you back by making these irrational decisions. I'm truly sorry.” I apologized again with all my heart this time. She didn't say a word for some seconds and when she finally opened up, the words that escaped her mouth went, “Just keep Denzel safe. As long as he’s alive, then I'm fine. As for our relationship, I don't think it will be the way it used to be.” She finished and walked away.

I stood there contemplating on what I would do next, which meant facing Denzel's daughter who already knew about everything that had occurred outside the pack. I proceeded into the pack manor and joined the family, who had gathered in the large dining hall for breakfast. Stepping into the bubbles of chatter and laughter, I saw Denzel with the family. My sister Esme was also having a good time with Frey’s children and there wasn't so much surprise on Frey’s face, nor was there anger.

“Marion, come on, join us.” The Alpha said and smiled at me. I sauntered toward the vacant seat next to Denzel and I sat with him, linking my hands with his under the table.

“Thank you.” Beaming at him, I plated my breakfast and dug into the food. I darted a glance at my sister, seeing she was getting along with Jada and her siblings. I was so happy that finally she had gotten back to the place she belonged, with me and my mate. Since it was a Saturday and the kids in the pack house were staying home, Esme asked if she could stay with them and I accepted. She needed to get back to being around kids her age, especially after spending the last six months alone. At first, the thought of her being traumatized her entire life frightened me, but seeing she was getting along with these kids brought an unfamiliar warmth to my heart.

After breakfast, the ranked wolves dispersed to their various duties, and the kids headed to their playroom, leaving me, Denzel and Frey in the dining hall. “I would love to scream and shout at you for lying about the episodes, but if my father forgave you, then I forgive you,” she stated with a smile and pulled me into an embrace. Denzel had told her everything. He was leaning against the dining table, grinning from ear to ear. “Besides, putting someone like you under that kind of pressure, I don't blame you for what you did. You fixed it in the end,” she added. “As for your sister, Esme. She's safe with us now.”

“Thank you so much.”

“We are witches. If we don't stick up for each other, who else will. I'll leave you two alone.” She finished and sauntered away. Once we were both behind closed doors, Denzel walked up to me and pulled me into a kiss. He curved his hands around my waist and pressed my body against his, breathing a sigh of relief.

“See I told you. Now come on, let's get back to the house. You said you would tell me something, remember?”

“And yes, I remember.”

We headed back to my mate's home, where I would take care of the thing that had burdened me most of my life. I was very skilled with my craft and might be one of the most powerful witches in the pack. But the only thing my powers had brought me these past years was pain; from running half of my life, losing my parents and friends, losing my sister, and almost losing the love of my life. I had no choice but to put it away. I wanted to put it away because it seemed like it was the only option I had. And ever since I cast the spell to amplify the trio’s power, I still felt the intoxicating presence of the darkness. I had to get rid of my magic before it drove me into things I wasn't supposed to do. “I’m going to stop practicing.” I announced it to Denzel after we had gotten into the house. He turned to me with a concerned look and cleared the distance between us, taking me into his arms. “Anything you need, dear.”

“I know it seems like I'm abandoning a huge part of myself, but I have to put it away for a while. When I feel it is time for me to bring it back, I will.”

“It’s ok. I can only imagine the things you went through alone. But you have me now, and I would never abandon you.” He chuckled and brushed his soft hands across my cheeks.

“Thank you,” I embraced him and held him tightly, then suddenly, he lifted me from the floor and hauled me to his room. He kicked the door open and walked to the bed, laying me on the soft mattress. “We should get some sleep. We've been awake all night and my head hurts as hell.” He said as he tugged off his shirt and joined me on the bed. I crept closer to him and threw my hands on his chest, letting myself sense the warmth from feeling his thick muscles. I smiled and inhaled deeply. He laid a kiss on my forehead and said, “Finally, we are home. Now we can spend all the time we need together.”

“Hmm. I know, right? That is, if you could keep your hands off me.” I chuckled.

“Well, that's not on the list of things I should do,” he grinned. “I see the way you take care of your sister. Do you ever want to have kids of your own?”

“It has crossed my mind once. But you know, as a wolf and a witch, we cannot be able to. Besides the hybrid curse and all. But I would really love to have a son, you know. There was a time I held a boy; we were taking a stroll around our former home. At a moment I felt this flutter of happiness in my chest, little him clutched to my arms as I took him round the field. I was happy, so happy. At that moment, I wondered how it would feel to have a kid of my own.” A feeling of nostalgia warmed my chest as I shared this beautiful memory with my fated mate.

“You could find a witch who's willing to collaborate.” He shrugged his answer.

“What about you?”

“I have a daughter. Although she's not biologically mine, but I love her with all my heart. You see, my first mate wasn't compliant when I found Frey as a baby, and it marred our relationship. I couldn't let Frey go out of my former mate’s spite. She was a little baby that needed my assistance, and I had no choice but to give her everything I had, no matter what it would cost me.”

“I’m sorry your first mate wasn't understandable.”

“I have you now, and I can't wait to hold your kid if you decide to have one.”

“I can't wait either. Let's keep speculating.” I chuckled. I flicked my hands over my mate’s chest, feeling his hair stand on end. This was everything I wanted. This was the reason I went to the clearing every full moon night to see if I could find the passion I'd long for since I knew what love meant. I got it. As I held Denzel’s muscular frame, I slowly drifted into sleep, hoping that this wasn't some kind of dream. That when I woke up, Denzel would still be in my arms and would kiss me on every part of my body. I continued to thank the moon goddess for our union together. Yes, Diana knew how to play a twisted, dangerous game, but in the end she knew exactly what she was doing. She had sent Denzel to save my life. Denzel Hemming: my savior mate.
