Something told me he was nervous.
It was ridiculous for him to worry after I’d already agreed to be his, but I did get it. There was still no guarantee. And Travis and Kyle still did want me to choose them. If I was in love with a guy who could reject me that easily, I’d be stressed too.
“You don’t think Travis would try to use his magic on me, right?” I asked.
Cam snorted. “He saw how fast Oren died. I don’t think anyone will ever be stupid enough to try that on this island again. Travis isn’t bright, but he doesn’t have a death wish. He’ll want to keep coming back here until he’s won a mate or faded too much to try.”
I settled against him.
It was going to be a long few days, especially if Cam remained stressed and quiet for parts of it… but we were going to make it.

CAMERON
I stared up at the stars through the trees above our head. Molly was curled up in my arms, her perfect body pressed against mine beneath her blanket. She’d had a conversation with Travis as well, and he’d accepted the truth with as much grace as Kyle had.
Both of the bastards were pissed with me, but they’d known there was a good chance they wouldn’t win before they ever stepped foot on the island.
All of us did.
When night arrived, Kyle had sprawled out in the group’s shelter.
Travis had claimed mine.
I would’ve rather taken Molly to my own, but I wasn’t about to let another asshole sleep in my female’s bed. Smelling her scent on his skin would drive me mad. So, we’d gone to bed in hers.
That had been hours earlier, though.
I hadn’t managed to fall asleep. Not that I’d gotten much sleep on the island at all. Knowing I was moments away from losing Molly at all times kept my mind too occupied to rest until my body decided to shut down.
I was going to win the game—but it wasn’t over yet.
And I wouldn’t be able to relax until she was mine.
Permanently.
Molly shifted beside me, and my wings curved with her.
She didn’t have my magic yet, but my body already responded to hers. It had from the beginning. Guarding her had been a simple task, because I’d felt like she was a part of me since the moment we met. I was aware of her every move, every sound, and every breath.
She lifted her head, eyes heavy with sleep. I’d only seen her like that twice during our four years. Both times were when she’d fallen asleep on the couch, watching a movie or TV show.
“Still awake?” she murmured.
My cock throbbed hard against her thigh. I couldn’t have stopped it if I tried. I hadn’t softened since I had her bare body against mine on that yacht.
“Yep.” I kissed her forehead.
The alternative was to drag her up my body and make love to her mouth with mine. Which I didn’t think she wanted, given she’d been sleeping moments earlier. And the hesitation I’d seen on her face so many times was definitely a deterrent.
Though I believed she was going to choose me, given the lack of other options, I knew she was still hesitant about it. And that was where my uncertainty came in.
“You’re tense. Why?” Her voice was soft enough not to wake up Kyle or Travis. They were both snoring loudly enough that I had no doubts about it.
“Just tired of this island.” I smoothed my hand over her back. The sweater she still had on prevented me from touching that soft, sexy skin. “Don’t worry about it. Go back to sleep.”
She rolled her eyes at me. “I thought you wanted me to be your mate.”
