His eyes shoot to the door. “I’d prefer if no one in the office found out about that.”

“Good idea.”

“Have you told anyone?”

“No. Not even Madden.”

“All right. Good.”

My lips twist to the side. “What did Ian say?”

“About a house?”

“About the kiss.”

“Oh.” Hunter looks away suddenly, twisting his chair toward his computer screen. “I didn’t … I couldn’t send him the video.”

“Ah. Not hot enough?”

He swallows loudly. “Yeah. Exactly.”

“We can try again.”

“Probably better we don’t.” He glances back over, dark, intense eyes sweeping over me. “It’s crossing lines, and truthfully, I don’t want to be kissing you and thinking about him. I don’t want to think about him at all, and when it comes to you, that’s basically a guarantee.”

I shrug. “If you’re kissing me right, you shouldn’t be thinking about anything.” When I was kissing him, Ian was the last thing on my mind.

Just Hunter.

And how goddamn sexy he is.

“But not sending the video was probably smart because now you can call him and get his help finding somewhere to live.”

He covers his face with big hands and groans into them. “I really don’t want to.”

“Then keep living in the hotel.”

“I can’t.”

“Then call him.”

“Rush …”

I throw up the hand not holding P.L. Ant to me. “I really don’t know what I’m supposed to say here. There, there? Does that work?”

“It doesn’t work, but it’s just occurred to me that you’d get along great with my sister.”

“I dunno. I’m usually a flop with family members.”

“You wouldn’t be with her. Trust me.”

I’ll let him be confident about that. It’s not like I ever will meet her, so neither of us can be proved right or wrong.

“She told me not to fail,” Hunter says softly.

“Why does she think you would?”

“Because I do at just about everything.”
